Live Poll: The United States of Movies

Recently Entertainment Weekly magazine made a list of the single films that best captured the spirit and and story of each US state. Since there are 51 films on the list (including Washington DC) the most popular 35 are listed below. Vote for your favorite film and then you will know which US state you should be living in!

List: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls020727304
Poll: http://www.imdb.com/poll/IU803Pj0XsY/

Movies that didn't make the top 35 cut: True Grit (Arkansas), The Ice Storm (Connecticut), Breaking Away (Indiana), Coal Miner's Daughter (Kentucky), Hairspray (Maryland), In the Heat of the Night (Mississippi), Nebraska (Nebraska), Our Town (New Hampshire), Gas, Food Lodging (New Mexico), Junebug (North Carolina), Three Faces West (North Dakota), Oklahoma! (Oklahoma), Nashville (Tennessee), Giant (Texas), Shenandoah (Virginia), October Sky (West Virginia)

Great Poll!! My vote: Scarface.
FYC: make 2 polls, so you can add all the states.
Maybe a Northern US poll and a Southern US poll.

Thanks. I didn't think this idea would be popular enough for two polls.

I like this list. Good poll. But what disturbs me is that if some of these movies "that best captured the spirit and and story of each US state." then the spirit and story of that state is not very good because the movie selected for that state definitely does not speak well of it. Especially "Deliverence" . It doesn't speak well of Georgia at all. The same with Scarface for Florida. This is what got me on the " This Is Chicago" poll and why I said "Weather they paint the city in a good light or a bad light, ...". I'm not hiding from Chicago's troubled past but I hope that I have put some films on there to show that there is a good side to Chicago's spirit. I don't know if I had accomplished that. I hope so.

Jen,

While waiting for my older daughter, I came across the August 11, 2017 issue of Entertainment Weekly. It's somewhat surreal to see a magazine upon which a poll is based after the poll is suggested.

Yes, Anna Kendrick does a great job of illustrating your poll.

I meant the art that accompanied the feature in the magazine. Anna was for your mind being blown. :)

So far you're the only person who considered Bridesmaids their favorite movie on the list.
