Live Poll: The Future of Black Panther

The death of Chadwick Boseman came as a shock to movie fans and it left the Marvel Cinematic Universe in awe.

As the actor potraying Black Panther, who was called to be one of the most important characters in the next phase of the Marvel films, his death brings a shock to all future films.

Besides the appearances he might have had in other films, Chadwick Boseman was supposed to star in Black Panther II (2022) the sequel to the Best Picture Oscar nominee and highly succesful Black Panther (2018).

What would you like Marvel to do with the character after Boseman's death?

There are currently three options:

Recast the role

Let other character take Black Panther's mantle

Cancel the film

Open for more suggestions.

I guess some day another actor will play the character, but it would be respectful if it didn't happen soon.

A possible fifth option could be to re-cast with his dopplehanger.

T'Challa is a very important character and he needs to remain a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While Boseman will always be remembered, there are other talented actors that can take the role, and it would not be the first time Marvel has recasted an important character just as it happened with Hulk and War Machine.

I think the same, Edward Norton replaced by Mark Ruffalo and Terrence Howard replace by Don Cheadle weren't the same deal.

FYC: Make a CGI version of Chadwick Boseman as they did with Carrie Fisher

Personally, I think it would be the pinnacle of disrespect, but considering that it is what Disney did when Carrie Fisher passed away in 2016. It is a highly probable option.

I would also find that outrageous, but it is a valid option, I'll add it.

After Heath Ledger's death, Christopher Nolan and the Dark Knight trilogy production team stated that they would make no reference to the Joker in the 3rd film out of respect for Ledger.

I would opt for putting future Black Panther films on hold for ~5 years, and then having another character - Shuri would be the ideal choice - pick up the mantle.

So I guess I'm leaning somewhere between options 2 & 3... have Shuri pick up the mantle, but after a sufficient hiatus.

(I'm not suggesting this as a further option; I'll select one of the two when the poll goes live.)

'Good poll and a nice way to further remember and honor Boseman. My vote would probably go to the second option.

May I suggest three small punctuation edits to option #2? (no comma after "news," a semi-colon after "Boseman," and no comma after "comic.")

This is terrible news and T'Challa should go with Boseman; however, the Black Panther should continue and there are other characters ready to take the mantle as Ruler of Wakanda.

Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, has already been the Black Panther in the comic and she can also do it in the films.

Congratulations! :D

I think CGI would be the worst decision. I think about his bereaved.

They would see him on posters everywhere and couldn't watch tv without seeing

his face in commercials. That's cruel! It's too less time since he died!
