Live Poll: Remembering Some Great Poll Authors

Since the first poll went live in August 2013 we've had over 470 poll authors, and many of the most prolific authors* are sadly retired or inactive, and haven't made polls in a long time. Together, they have made almost one third of the 11,888 polls so far. To remember these talented authors, here are their names along with their most voted poll. Which poll do you like the most?

*with at least 40 polls, who started making polls before February 2017.

I miss them all, especially albstein and pere... I also miss jalapeno's old-fashioned rants... yes, it's sad that they retired or stop making polls but I think many of them stopped when IMDb shut the message boards, it was truly the end of an era... even I miss the message boards, so much thought and knowledge on every single important film, vanished forever... I miss the 2000s

Actually, only 13 of them didn't make the transition to Get Satisfaction, but yeah, most of them stopped making polls shortly after that.

I wasn't sure to include albstein at first because he is still on the board sometimes, though he hasn't suggested a poll for a long time. Of course, this poll is not meant to stop these authors from ever making polls again, it's just a way to honor them as well as the message boards. I rather hope it can bring some of them back.

By the way, I see jalapenoman and a few others are still voting in polls. :)

He is not on the list. But, I can't help thinking about Ed Jones. There is probably no poll maker who was more influential than him in my poll-making "career". I don't think that is a compliment though.

Some of the polls credited to me are more his than mine, he would be so insistent in getting my polls published the way he wanted that often I would give up and make every adjustment he wanted. There are also some polls I did with the sole purpose of annoying him.

This was a tough choice, but I had to go with hb's superhero roommate poll, it's just so funny. :)

I miss many of these authors, especially borimor. I remember how upset he was about the change and it was sad that he refused to join GS. He was a creative author and a nice and funny guy.

This is your old buddy the J-Man (the Jalapenoman).  I created an account here to thank all of you for being remembered in this poll.

To catch you up on me... I have had two major and one minor stroke in the past five years and am now basically bedridden.  Sounds sad, but I do get to watch a lot of my old movies (that I always loved) and even a few new things.  I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and my son and granddaughter are here to take care of me.

Here is a poll suggestion for someone who wants it.  I gave it to Dan Dassow a few months ago, but he said that he had problems and wouldn't be around for a while.

Each Jurassic Park movie contains a child or teenager who is threatened by the dinosaurs.  Which of these child/teen characters was your favorite?
Ariana Richards as Lex in Jurassic Park (appeared briefly in The Lost World but was not menaced).
Joseph Mazzello as Tim in Jurassic Park (appeared briefly in The Lost World but was not menaced)
Vanessa Chester as Kelly Curtis in The Lost World, Jurassic Park (Played Jeff Goldblum's teen daughter)
Trevor Morgan as Eric Kirby in Jurassic Park III
Nick Robinson as Zach in Jurassic World
Ty Simpkins as Gray in Jurassic World
Isabella Sermon as Maisie Lockwood in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom AND in Jurassic World Dominion

@TheOldJalapenoman I miss you. And why don’t you do the poll. I sounds like a great idea. I vote for the “Jurassic Park”, nobody was menaced like those kids were in the kitchen.

@dgranger I can do about five minutes of computer or reading at a time and then my head blows up with a major headache and I have to get away from it for a while.  I also have no vision in one eye and limited vision in the other.  Additionally, I don't know how to do polls in this new system.

No, someone else can do the poll and get the points.

I would, by the way, vote the same as you.

Thanks for saying that I am missed.

I miss them all too. Especially Ed_Jones and  Yrnej.
But I think of all possibilities, and there is a big elephant that is not mentioned in the room, a few may have possibly passed away. So I view this poll as a memorandum in case a few did.
