Live Poll: Pop and Rock "Aristocrats" of the 1980s
Intro:
In the 1980s popular music around the world was growing strongly diverse. It was a golden era of pop and rock music, mostly recognized as that by people who are mid-agers today. In the 80s decade, Michael Jackson has even gained the title "The King of Pop". There were many several other international mainstream artists which could claim an aristocratic state, too. These are singers of the band, standing in the spotlight.
The linked YouTube-examples are representing one of many good songs of the artists, but intentionally not their greatest hits. Please try to think of further songs they did, before voting. Which of these pop stars, that had at least a part of their Golden Time in the 1980s, performed your most favorite songs?
Chant here.
Suggestions:
Please think of real dominant pop and rock icons , which have had a part of their Golden Time in the 80s. They should be a mainstream pop musician. To make it more clear: they can be any genre of music, but I don't want to get rock only bands, which only have one single hit like - for example - Kiss. They should have a strong mainstream character. Please think of people which are examplary mainstream icons for that time period. It's about the sirs and ladys in the spot-light. So - for example - when it comes to Abba, I took Agnetha (randomly? chose her), added Anni-Frid in brackets, because both are the front singers in the spotlight. I hope I did explain it detailed enough. I'm aiming for max. 25 options each list.
P.S.: Changed the title to "Pop and Rock "Aristocrats" of the 1980s", because of pop and rock often goes hand in hand somehow.

Breu, I wouldn't call Springsteen and Axl Rose pop stars, they are rock musicians.

There are still 23 good picks on the list, and 23 is a good number. If there are no more unambiguous examples of "pop aristocrats" for the list, I'd declare it as ready to go. Except in the case of corrections to do.

Maybe you should mention The Police in Sting's entry. He was part of the band until 1986, and some of his biggest hits was with them.
FYC:
The Bangles, Susanna Hoffs or Victoria Peterson could represent them. They have hit songs like Eternal Flame, Manic Monday, Walk Like and Egyptian that remain popular.
Lionel Richie All Night Long, Say You Say Me
Cindy Lauper True Colors, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Bonnie Tyler Total Eclipse of the Heart, Holding Out for a Hero
If you want to go international, Timbiriche songs are still heard in most parties in Mexico and they marked a generation. I think Paulina Rubio might be their best known member
In Spain, Mecano was a big hit and their songs were also big hits in Latin America, they even made a stage play with their music that has been performed since 2006, their singer was Ana Torroja
I would say the Stones had their best known work before the 80s, and that they are better known as rock musicians rather than pop, but if you include them, then maybe Paul McCartney should also be there, after he broke with the Wings he recorded Ebony and Ivory and No More Lonely Nights among others in the 80s

Because of Pop and Rock often goes hand in hand, I changed the title to:
International Pop and Rock "Aristocrats" of the 1980s
P.S.:
I also skipped the word "International", because it has no use. It's mainstream anyway! So now it's:
"Pop and Rock "Aristocrats" of the 1980s"
