I remember growing up in the 1960s that I thought that Jesse White was the Maytag Repairman and that Dick Wilson was Mr. Whipple (a grocery store manager obsessed with people squeezing the Charmin). I didn't understand until I was older the joke about squeezing the Charmin; produce managers in grocery stores would frequently caution customers about squeezing melons and other produce to check on freshness.
