LIVE POLL: Most Shocking 2026 Emmy Nomination Snub or Surprise

Which egregious Emmy nomination omission or unexpected Emmy nomination surprise is the biggest shock of 2026?

*Snubs & Surprises have been consolidated into a single answer option, limited to one answer slot per series, program, or movie. The goal is to ensure maximum representation during an ultra-competitive Emmy year, that resulted in both more snubs and surprises, than occur during a typical Emmy awards season.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards (2026) honors the best in American primetime television programming from June 1, 2025, until May 31, 2026. The awards ceremony will be hosted by Mariska Hargitay on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 5 PM PST / 8 PM EST from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, California, USA. The ceremony will air live coast-to-coast on the NBC broadcast network and stream worldwide on Peacock. I think Dexter Sol Ansell should have been nominated for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

The Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category only has 6 nominees, while Supporting Actress has 7. What's that about? Why couldn't they have added one more?

@Jessica, corrected, as others feel both were in the conversation for nominations in their acting category.

I added these two options,

while removing these two options to make room.

  I am open to any other suggestions that might be more Emmy deserving or more agreed upon as SNUB or SURPRISE.

@Jessica I added eleven more options, but had to do it by combining some options. I instituted a  single answer option per series rule with multiple surprises & snubs applied. I felt it was justified with the year being ultra-competitive (in terms of quality of work) and the number of debut & final season series that made the nomination selections even more controversial.

@urbanemovies

SURPRISE: "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" garnered ten nominations, including a tough Outstanding Drama Series nomination.

It got nine nominations.

@Jessica Thanks, corrected. I have seen it reported as eight, nine and ten now, even IMDb has it wrong @ eight.

I swapped the Oliver Platt snub for the Kathy Bates snub in the answer pool.
