Live Poll: Most Prolific Actress Oscar Has Ever Seen

Kevin Bacon once claimed to have worked with everyone in Hollywood or someone they had worked with after his first thirty films. His comment was the catalyst for the creation of the pop culture game, "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon". Bess Flowers never made such a boast, but could have easily made the claim in her day. Flowers was known as the "Queen of Hollywood Extras" appearing in over nine hundred movies plus hundreds of TV episodes and short films too.

She holds the record for most feature film appearances by an actor. As well as, both the records for most appearances in an Oscar-nominated title at one hundred and eighty-nine and most appearances in an Oscar-nominated Best Picture at thirty-two, according to IMDb's film credits. So frequent were her appearances, diehard film fans would make a game of spotting her in movies. Sources: Bess Flowers' Oscar Nominated Movie List and Bess Flowers' Oscar Nominated Best Picture List

Which of these select Oscar-nominated movies with a Bess Flowers appearance is your favorite? *title must be Oscar nominated, have 7500 or more votes and a IMDb 7.0+ rating

Your comment of Kevin Bacon inventing the six degrees thing is incorrect.

Jen, I didn't say he invented it, only that his comment sparked others to and was the catalyst. The words spawn and invent have different meanings. Spawn: to cause something new Invent: to originate or create as a product of one's own ingenuity

In a January 1994 Premiere magazine interview about the film The River Wild, Kevin Bacon commented that he had worked with everybody in Hollywood or someone who's worked with them. On April 7, 1994, a lengthy newsgroup thread headed "Kevin Bacon is the Center of the Universe" appeared. The game was created in early 1994 by three Albright College students, Craig Fass, Brian Turtle, and Mike Ginelli. According to an interview with the three in the spring 1999 issue of the college's magazine, The Albright Reporter, they were watching Footloose during a heavy snowstorm. When the film was followed by The Air Up There, they began to speculate on how many movies Bacon had been in and the number of people he had worked with. In the interview, Brian Turtle said, "It became one of our stupid party tricks I guess. People would throw names at us and we'd connect them to Kevin Bacon."

(edit) re-phrased sentence His comment was the was the catalyst for the creation of the pop culture game, "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon".

Thanks, fixed. I appreciate the help, I think it is clearer now and less confusing than it was originally. I wanted to include the story as it relates to what an accomplishment Bess Flowers achieved in her almost 1,000 appearances. But, the introduction was already lengthy, I tried not to over explain it, leading to the confusion..

I find the question a bit awkward. Something like this would be simpler: "Which of these Oscar nominated movies featuring Bess Flowers is your favorite?"

Also:

"As well as the records for most appearances in Oscar nominated titles at one hundred and sixty-eight and most appearances in Best Picture nominees at twenty-three."

And this correction:

"Bess Flowers' Oscar Nominated Movie List"

Did you see Peter's note above mine?

No, I haven't checked my mail and missed it. I reworked the paragraph incorporating his notes. It should be fine now. Pretty amazing, most actors would kill to be in one Oscar nominated title.

'Good idea for a poll! The intro. has some really interesting information, too. And of course the list includes some great films. :)

I'd suggest just a few edits in the following part of the intro. The edits are in bold text.

She holds the record for most feature film appearances by an actor, as well as both the records for most appearances in an Oscar nominated title at one hundred and sixty-eight and most appearances in a Best Picture nominee at twenty-three.
