I am still seeking American Flag movie scenes or American Flag imagery that has more iconic images or where the American flag played a greater role in the story line or plot. Those that will help set the bar higher and have excluded these for the time being.

I am still seeking suggestions of scenes where the American flag is integral part of the story, in advance of Flag Day, June 14th. For example, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! (TV Movie 2015)

Does anybody recall seeing Revolution (1985), a Brtish-made movie about the American Revolution with Al Pacino, Donald Sutherland, Dexter Fletcher and Nastassja Kinski and its flag scenes.

I am curious how other nation's flags (other than USA) are used in their in their countries' native cinema? Why Americans' Flag Obsession Is Not Exceptional | Time

I have identified the following type of scenes, as well as, two other types with a hidden agenda: propaganda and commercialism.

Types of American flag scenes (so far)
1) Public speaking in front of the American flag
2) Protesting with the American flag
3) Raising or Striking the American flag
4) Fighting/Battling with the American flag
5) Wearing the American flag
6) Celebrating or Honoring with the American flag
7) American flag as a plot focal point, a story telling device or a prop
8) American flag propaganda
9) American flag commercialism

Flag-waving Propaganda
Flag-waving is a fallacious argument or propaganda technique used to justify an action based on the undue connection to nationalism or patriotism or benefit for an idea, group or country. It is a variant of argumentum ad populum.

urbanemovies I doubt it's exceptional: I've seen a lot of Ukrainian flags in Ukrainian cinema and that also works for just about any country.

Thanks,  HAPPY FLAG DAY. This poll suggestion was a little more challenging than I initially thought it would be, but I like how it came out in the end too. We will see how the movie one does first, but I am thinking about a TV version for next year. But, I am not sure there are enough TV scenes or moments to do a companion piece. I can't think anything off the the top of my head other than the The Big Bang Theory's Dr. Sheldon Cooper and Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler Present: Dr. Sheldon Cooper's Fun With Flags - BETSY ROSS SCENE.

You could change the date and occasion to the 4th of July.

I just removed the introduction altogether.

Happy Flag Day. In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14th each year. The date commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777. Officially known as the ‘flag of the United States of America’, the American flag is affectionately referred to as The Stars and Stripes; Red, White, and Blue; Old Glory; and The Star-Spangled Banner. The colors of the American flag are symbolic: old glory red symbolizes valor, fervency, zeal and hardiness; white symbolizes purity, innocence and hope; and old glory blue represents God, loyalty, vigilance, perseverance, truth and justice. The American flag is one of the most recognized symbols worldwide. Source: Huffpost's American Flag Factoids

Urb,

You have captions for some of the choices but not for others. Were you planning on adding captions? If so, will this be ready for the 4th of July?

Theoretically, I wouldn't think if a American Flag Movie Scene or Imagery is
iconic that it would not need to be labeled; especially when the question asks which one is most memorable one of them all? I also would hope, if you have seen the movie, you would recall these scenes.

Plus, I am generally against placing my own descriptions on scenes, as they limit or may be different than the poll takers. However, the flag raising scene group (excluding Superman) has some historical context that makes them more iconic and may not be common knowledge. These I thought poll takers needed help in making the leap. I consider the poll suggestion a finished product.

I have seen 90% of these movies and re-watching these scenes after 5, 10 and 20 years was helpful. it refreshed my memory of the scenes and their importance within the movie. Also, coupled with a bit of digging, I learned some new things about how these flags were used as plot devices. As a result, I could see how captains could aid in refreshing or educating poll takers to facts they have forgotten or never knew in the first place.

IF I ADDED MORE CAPTION, they would be like these putting the SCENES IN CONTEXT, but not necessarily helping the poll taker answer which one MOST MEMORABLE.

Title: The Day After Tomorrow
A wave of -150°F upper atmospheric air hits NYC flash freezing everything in its wake including the American flag. The freezing of the flag is used to show how Sam's group barely cheats death as they take refuge in the New York Public Library,

Title:
Idiocracy
In 2505, commercialism has reached epic proportions including sponsoring the American flag with corporation embedded logos in its red stripes.

Title:
Rocky
The ultimate showman, an Uncle Sam costumed Apollo Creed points the American flag at Rocky and chants "I Want You" prior to their first match.

Title:
Saving Private Ryan
The American flag symbolically bookends the movie being featured in the opening and closing scenes. In the opening scene, it is a faded, translucent symbol over the graves of American serviceman pulsing across the entire screen.
