Actually, I thought it would take time to get to 10 characters it went faster than i thought it would go, seriously, didn't expect so many screen icons to fit (I was expecting to add characters such as E.T. or HAL 9000 to fill the list...)

ElM. as you probably don't watch "The Flash" I believe some explaining is needed: the photograph which you chose is not H.R. Wells, whose native universe is Earth Nineteen, but his counterpart from Earth Two, Harrison "Harry" Wells. H.R. Wells is also not a PhD, so he's not a Dr. (which is rare for various alternative universe Wellses but happens). 

As for McReady: glad to be of help. :)

Thanks, Jen. I think i'll stick to fictional characters because you'd never know whether they're voted as favorite because of the film/show or the real-life counterpart (except maybe for OJ Simpson)

Now, I'm in a situation, I just can't remove Lawrence of Arabia, no way, he's too iconic for that... is there an non-fictional character with initials and who'd be as iconic as him? I don't think so... I guess I'll have to stick to the big ones: lead characters or unforgettable supporting roles.

Which ones from your list fit these criteria, I know I can take
JM Barrie (Oscar nomination after all)
PR Travers (GG nomination and one of Thompson's best performances)

Most of the others don't ring a bell but maybe that's just me, which ones are the most important?

I'm not sure... because some people are remembered for their real-life contribution rather than their depiction on screen, and I don't want to leave any confusion... T.E. Lawrence is just the exception to the rule because the cinematic version has almost dethroned history in the general perception of the man. But you'll see, I found another way to organize the listing.

Hey ElMo, 'good list and poll. 'So many good choices that I have no idea who'd get my vote -- well, maybe C.J. Cregg. She was great. 

I'm thinking you meant "kept unknown from the general public" instead of "unknown by?" 

I have one suggestion for the intro besides that one: A colon (:) instead of a comma after gender-biased.
