Live Poll: IMDb Poll Board's All Time Favorite Eurovision Song Contest Winners

Intro:

Which of these ESC winners is most likely also your favorite? The Eurovision Song Contest (1956) is the biggest International song contest; it has been held for 70 years and is thereby the longest-running TV-music-show in the world. It takes place each year in the home country of last year's winner. More than 1.700 songs were promoted around the world by the European Broadcasting Union who founded the biggest event in Europe. The IMDb Poll Board users were asked to choose up to 5 Eurovision Song Contest winners that they like the most. These were selected from the winners of the Eurovision Song Contest from the beginning in 1956 up to 2026. Please cheer here.

Suggestions:

You can pick any winner of the 68 events in past time and also this years. If another user was faster, you can second him or her. (Guess this will be an ABBA contest. ;) Please suggest with an image of the band on the contest.

Add: Since there are so less users suggesting, I'd say wen can pick 10 each user.

You can find a list of all winner here:

Please correct:

The ESC is the biggest International song contest; it has been held for 68 years and is thereby the longest-running TV-music-show in the world. It takes place each year in the home country of last year's winner. More than 1.700 songs were promoted around the world by the European Broadcasting Union who founded the biggest event in Europe. and the riparian states. In 2024 it was hosted by Petra Mede and Malin Akerman.

The ESC (IMDb) is a show which strongly unites countries in a very peaceful way. On May 11th, 2024, the finals of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest were held and we have a winner. X with the song X rocked it.

Which winner picked by IMDb Poll Board users as their favorite is also yours? (If you didn't hear any of them, which would you like to hear? and see according to the option?)

Thank you, Jessica. I've corrected it. While I have the impression it doesn't get the interest it needs.

Jessica, that one was last year. I can do another for this year, if it's ok, but I saw last year, there was very low interest in it, even though it's the biggest music event in the whole world. I hesitate doing it, because when I do I want to get it released. I'd even do a poll for the 2025 contest, but it seems like they can't watch the videos overseas.

Well, you could just update the intro, but sadly I think you're right, it probably won't get enough options.

The propblem is, that the ESC isn't as popular in the U.S. as it is in e.g. Australia, which has a big fandom, when it comes to the ESC. Same for South-American countries. They have many ESC-fans there. The other problem is, thatthe most people form U.S. can't watch the ESC-videos on Youtube. I remember there were users complaining about not being able to. So how could they get connected to the ESC? Mission impossible. That's also a fault of copyright laws between the countries. And too many people don't know about using VPN.

@Jessica, I updated the list and made it 2025. Today, as you know, we will have a winner. I will have to insert him or her, but I still think it won't reach many people. We can try by another type of poll. I'll do a list of this year's contestants. Both semi-finals are done, so we can try with a contestant-list and look how many will join to vote. How about that?

Sure. The first one you did has 150 votes, which is pretty good, but it was also three years ago: https://www.imdb.com/poll/Mz18o6EzTM4/

Since Europe is more interested in being one union (the wars around), the ESC gained popularity. Maybe we could try again and see, if it is in our community, too?

Kirk-Picard commented but his reply was likely marked Private because of the Youtube link. He picked Dana - "All Kinds of Everything" from 1970. Here is an image: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0313357/mediaviewer/rm989009664/

I'll put Kirk-Picard's suggestion on the list. I don't understand, why they are such affraid of external links, that they even censor youtube and wikipedia. Can't they work out a white-list?

I've just watched their performances on YT. Ruslana is wild like Ukraine. Shout-out to Ukraine. Stay tough guys. You got a clever president. I hope afterwards he visits Germany and I can get an autograph. Great guy! And Charlotte Nielsen is a little like ABBA, she does in ABBA-style. Nice, somehow. Shout-out to Sweden.

Good picks, Jessica. :D

They're on the list, now. :D

I've updated the idea. I stated also 2026 in the intro, not only until 2025. And added a link to the Eurovision Song Contest, which is listed as a TV Series on IMDb. Also updated the intro in the forum here. I hope there will be some more picks to choose. Guys, come on. ;)

Many of my favorite songs are those that didn't win, but I'll nominate two more (I hope you don't mind if I pick another Swede ☺️).

Måns Zelmerlöw - "Heroes" (2015), Sweden

Emmelie de Forest - "Only Teardrops" (2013), Denmark

That is totally fine. I actually like the clever Swedes quite a lot — and your Crown Princess as well. She was one of the hosts in 2024 by giving the opening speech. She really came across as friendly, dignified, and impressive. I honestly wish the other royal houses would do things like that too. That would be wonderful.

And if there were suddenly a plopp and everything in our home that counts as a “Swedish shelf” came crashing down, the entire floor would disappear under furniture. From Billy to Kämpe to Kallax — practically everything we own is Swedish. ;)

Swedish furniture is practical, beautiful, and unbelievably affordable. We are absolute fans of it. And besides — where else are we supposed to keep our ABBA collection? ;)

I feel exactly the same way about the music. So welcome aboard! I’ll add your Swedes to the list. ;)

To be fair, I leave out the special characters for other countries as well. It would really help if there were finally some clear guidance about which writing systems work best here. ASCII is obviously safe, but beyond that it gets a bit unclear. Have you already used those special characters yourself, and do they work properly?

So in the end, Måns Zelmerlöw becomes Mans Zelmerlow, whether we like it or not. If I revised the whole list again and added every special character back in, I honestly would not know whether the upload would still work correctly. I hope you do not mind.

I'm pretty sure å and ö will work. I'm at least positive that ć doesn't work because it's an Eastern European character. Peter can probably tell you more about this.

Just so you know, I won't be responding to comments for the next ten days after tomorrow.

Is there a special reason why? Are you on vacation? It's nice you told. What do you think, should I restore the original names and titles and then see what happens or just restore special characters that are sure? Please tell me.

I don't know which other special characters there are, but it should be fine to use the ASCII characters.

Hello, Peter.  Glad you could join us as well. I added your candidates to the list and was very happy that Lena is included. I had actually wanted to add her to the list myself, but then I found candidates I didn’t want to sacrifice for it. ;)

Your candidates are on Position #5, #8, #11, #14 and #17.

I just changed the name of Dana to Dana International, what her full name was at the ESC.
