Added introduction to OPTION 1: STAR TREK GRAB BAG
aka Boldest Official and Unofficial Star Trek

Over the past fifty years, there has been a mind-boggling number of "unofficial" fan-created Star Trek series and movies to complement the "official" content. The owners of the Star Trek franchise, CBS and Paramount Pictures allows these non-professional passion projects, so long as, they are not commercial in nature, do not encroach on the profitability of the Star Trek franchise and follow a strict set of guidelines.

Which official or unofficial Star Trek incarnation* is your favorite for boldly going where no Star Trek has gone before? * TV Series, Movie, Documentary, Parody, Web Series, Short, Attraction Experience or Fan-Created Titlehttp://www.slate.com/articles/arts/moneybox/2016/07/crowdfunding_gave_us_a_golden_age_of_amateur_star_trek_and_then_led_to_its.html

Noah Hawley to Write and Direct Next ‘Star Trek’ Movie

Fargo” and “Legion” creator Noah Hawley has been tapped to write and direct the next installment of the “Star Trek” franchise, sources tell Variety.

Though plot details are being kept under wraps, sources tell Variety the next “Star Trek” is expected to see Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban and Zoe Saldana returning to man the U.S.S. Enterprise.

J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot will return to produce, with Hawley also producing through his 26 Keys production banner.

This will serve as the fourth movie in the cinematic series, and is separate from another “Star Trek” pic that Paramount is developing with Quentin Tarantino producing and Mark L. Smith writing.

@urbanemovies ,

Live Long and Prosper!

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and Fathom Events are celebrating the 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan' 40th Anniversary by showing the film in select theaters on September 4, 5 and 8.

@dan_dassow Thanks for the heads up.

I have gone to other anniversary events, like for Gone with the Wind with a newly restored print and complete with an intermission break and music. I think it is great that they do these limited engagement events for classic titles. It is great way to put more people into theater seats, rather than running a fifth week of some mediocre film that pulls a half dozen or less people per showing. It is nice to see the movies in a theater with an audience. Plus, it rightfully commensurates the anniversary and that they are available nationwide, rather than just the major city art house circuit.

@urbanemovies ,

It just occurred to me that the first Star Trek episode to air, The Man Trap, aired on Thursday 08-September-1966, which will be 56 years ago on Thursday 08-September-2022. I've known for a long time that the first episode aired 56 years ago on 08-September-2022, since I saw the episode on black and white television with fuzzy reception. I had forgotten that Star Trek aired on Thursdays, the same night I had my Boy Scout meetings.
