Great idea, I love that you choose to honor the writing. It was a great show, with fantastic writing, sorry to see it go. Kudos to Diana Gabaldon and Ronald D. Moore for always making the seemingly unbelievable easy to believe.
It seems they left the door open and the show still had legs after twelve years.
I would think they could find some new or newer characters to continue the story, while not trampling on what they have already done.
