There were only three titles on the list that I could choose that were my favourites:  "Animal House(1978)", "Road House(1989)" and "White House Down(2013)".

I am open to other "house" titled movies you may want to suggest. As for the list, it is a combination of critical favorites and more widely seen commercial "house" titled movies. Each person has different tastes and has seen different movies, so the idea is to cast a wide enough net that everyone will find a choice they have seen and like.

I was surprised to see that "The Haunting" 1999 was not on the list. The 1999 version was fairly true to Shirley Jackson's novel The Haunting of Hill House.  Does this poll require the word House to be in the title? My favorites are Animal House, Cider House Rules and The Lake House.

I voted for "House of sand and fog".
Another would have been "House" of 1985.

How funny - immediately before that she starred in a nice little film called Two Family House.

Also, when I just saw the subject of this one (again) I immediately thought of the Cary Grant classic Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House.

Thanks, nice catch. I added 'Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House' @ the ten spot on the list. The original far exceeds the remakes The Money Pit (1986), Drömkåken (1993) and Are We Done Yet? (2007).

Congrats Urbane. Would you consider adding Two Family House I mentioned above?

I voted for The Lake House of all the choices as the scene where Alex Wyler and Kate Forster dance, and then kiss with the song: "This never happened before" by Paul McCartney, reminded me of my wife. (R.I.P. October 23 2002).
Just as they (Alex and Kate) were destined to meet, and fall in love, so were my wife and myself.
Needless to say "The Lake House" is one of my favorite movies.

Considered voting for House of Sand and Fog, show was good but to grim IMO.  Of course, the mainstream Animal House is at rank 1.  Voted for House (1985), as I recall was a humorous and quirky dark comedy, although I guess no one else has seen it, hence rank 17 on the list.

Why a recent House of Wax, but none of the earlier?  Vincent Price's RULES!

I was conflicted, but chose the one IMDb poll takers would identify with more.
I chose the lowly 5.3 rated House of Wax (2005) with 101,877 votes over the better, but less seen version, the 7.1 rated House of Wax (1953) with only 13,155 votes?

The numbers themselves speak poorly of the IMDB community.  One a classic, the other a joke.

I would disagree it speaks poorly. As those IMDb members who have seen the 1953 movie rightly rate it far above the 2005 version It doesn't say anything other than that a sixty-five year old movie has been seen by less living people than one that came out a decade ago. Also, it is likely IMDb voters don't back rate movies that they saw pre-internet, as all older movies generally have lower vote totals.

It's unbelievable that a list of best movies with "house" in the title does not even mention in passing the all time greatest house movie! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091223/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2

There can be only one :)

Your choice. House (1985) is already listed on the poll in the #25 spot. It is currently ranked in the middle of the pack at 18th out of 33 choices and has 1.2% of the total vote.
