Surprisingly, I couldn't find any suggestions like this one. Maybe there have been some deleted ones, but I couldn't find that either.

The first film is enjoyable from start to finish.  The second one bogs down and has a few boring patches,  The third film starts out slow and improves as it goes along.  For me, the answer is the first film!

Great choice! Well, the first one does have some of the most iconic scenes in the trilogy.

I'm totally baffled that no one has done this idea before. I looked for this 4 sites of search-results and didn't find another who's done it before. I searched with "Favorite Lord of the Rings". I wonder that Jessica didn't. Good idea, after such a long time. ;)

Thank you! I'm also very, very surprised no one has done this poll. I searched a million times and didn't find anything. I asked ChatGPT, searched IMDb Poll Stats, here... And still nothing. I thought that was not possible and that AI and ChatGPT are wrong, but here we are. :)

Well, we do have this poll by Drevnibor: https://www.imdb.com/poll/7KyEY86qFZo/

Even if we disregard the two animated films I think the results may be similar. But I think you can keep your suggestion.

Lucky guy! Just some voters will wonder if it was released earlier, but still vote for sure. ;D

Quite possibly! Well, let's see when will (and if) the poll go live, fingers crossed for next Friday (I doubt tomorrow), and then we'll see the votes... I hope for at least 350, since polls these days don't get as many votes as couple of years ago... My best poll has 408 votes (Favorite 'The Fellowship of the Ring' Quote), second one 344 and the third 330-ish (Most Iconic Wizards in Fantasy). But, since this is a popular topic, I hope for a bit more. :D

@Vandurath   I find it funny that 350 votes for a poll make it successful.  Back in the original poll days, 10,000 votes was about average for a poll.  We made fun of the three polls that only had about 7000 votes (they were jokes between the poll board members).  These were the original Stephen Frears poll (a historical masterpiece by Harbottle64), the Deborah Kerr poll, and the Paul Sand poll (not as sure on this one).  We had so much fun making jokes about these that when the new poll era hit 1000 polls, we redid the Frears poll (out of fun).

The Stephen Frears Poll Redux managed 703 votes.  https://www.imdb.com/poll/4eyyw7SK-0s/?ref_=tt_urpl_2

Wow... I was aware that polls had more votes in the past, but not that much! If you made fun about polls reaching 7000 votes, what would the old poll board say today, when the poll with the most votes this year has only around 2000 votes!

It's such a shame that a poll with 350 votes is considered somewhat successful these days, when polls hit 20,000 votes or more in the past... IMDb has a lot less poll makers these days, and less votes with that.

Luckily, that poll with 408 votes isn't my best anymore. My Favorite Fantasy Subgenre poll was featured on the home page and reached 1234 votes... Still low for polls back in the days!

@Vandurath   Would it make you upset to know that one of my older polls (which was still in the top ten last time I looked) has over 30,000 votes?  It was a character based poll, and this site deleted all of the character pages and froze all of those polls, so it can never get any more votes.  Probably 1/4 of my polls were character based (you could go title, character, actor, or picture based polls) and cannot get any more votes.

Well... A little bit ;)

Any poll maker these days could only dream of 30,000 votes. The best anyone can get now is around 2000, if not less. That is really sad, how IMDb lost half of their users and poll makers after shutting down the message boards to make this forum. Today, only a little bit of those old poll makers are still active. And only you are still here out of those first poll makers that started making polls about 20 years ago...

And, I also saw your poll is still in the top 10 (and I wanted to check the title of it, but for some reason this was on the PollStats site: "This service has been suspended by its owner.")!

@Vandurath   The poll board editors (Dan Dassow, Jessica, Peter, etc.) are all still around from my original days.  They may have even been here longer than me.   They were all just poll makers and none of us were editors or had any other authority or powers.  No idea whether or not Pencho is an editor, but he has also been here for a long time.  DC has also been here for a long time.

The poll that got all of the votes was a Christmas time poll on the "Most Giftable Movie Series."  I picked the 35 movie series with the largest combined box office gross and put them all in a poll and asked "If you were to buy a family member or friend a complete set of films for Christmas, which one of these would it be?"  Instead of using the first title from each series, as I should have done, I picked a popular character from each series.  For the Star Trek films, for example, I chose Spock.  My choosing characters instead of titles makes this poll dead.

You were definitely here before me, j-man. I joined in 2014. Dan, Peter and Pencho were already here when I joined.

@Jessica Okay, I'm just not fully aware of the timeline of who joined when.  I just know that we are all old timers.

So why did you drop the "D" at the front of your name here?

Lol, I don't know actually, but it is my true name so I guess it just felt better to use it here on the board.

You were all here way before me... It seems like I'm the newest poll board member (that has more than 1 poll and comments on the board), although I joined a couple of months ago!

Actually, the main reason I made an IMDb account is because they didn't let me read reviews (funny story)! Then I started taking polls and thought how fun would it be to have my own poll. Then, I tried making a suggestion, but I had so much trouble just making an account on this forum (it took me at least 2 hours), putting the same picture of this blue dragon that is on my profile (when I managed that, it said that the picture has more than allowed 2 megabytes, and I had to screenshot it and crop it to fit)... In one word: Nightmare. Then, I finally posted the suggestion, it went live and I got into poll making. ;)

@TheOldJalapenoman I am an editor, but I am the newer one. I joined the team last.

I've been here since the original message boards although I joined around 2012 to play an elimination game we used to have and just started into poll making after that. My first poll was the second to last under the old daily poll system.

Fingers crossed for this suggestion to go live tomorrow! 🤞

Though I don't give it much hope, since it's already three weeks since I posted it. Even though I would like it to go live more than anything now, since I think it has much potential for votes.

@Vandurath   Don't worry about timing.  I had polls that didn't go live for over a year after suggesting.  Look at the age of the discussion threads on some of the polls that go live and you will see that not all of them were suggested in the past week.  Patience, grasshopper!

By the way, I saw that there was a poll published a month or so ago. The suggestion was made, get this, nearly 9 years ago (8 years and some months)!!! I think it was Face-Off: Smaug vs. Drogon.

We shall see what will be, tomorrow, as we flee, to the IMDb Community...

And as the Sun's light, we shall sleep through the night, and await to see with our eyes, The Almighty Vandurath's rise...

Sorry, but I had to make a high fantasy rhyme out of this! ;)

@Vandurath Live it is, but as J-Man says, don't worry if it is not picked immediately, some polls have taken years before being used, as long as they are not related to a current event like an award ceremony they may be used at any moment.

Please edit the title so it follows AP Style (I'd also skip "Your" just to make it shorter but it's your call):

Face-Off: Favorite Film From 'The Lord of the Rings' Trilogy

If you're unsure, you can use this tool to check:

Edited the title. I also skipped "Yours" as you suggested, it's shorter and the question is pretty obvious, so it's not necessary.
