When it comes to winning Oscars, they are the two more succesful Spanish speaking countries.
Spain has won the International film award 4 times out of 22 nominations and Argentina has lifted the trophy twice out of 8 nominations.
During the XXI Century they have won one Oscar each. Spain did it in 2004 with The Sea Inside (2004) and Argentina in 2009 with The Secret in Their Eyes (2009).
The directors of each film,Alejandro Amenábar and Juan José Campanella are among the most acclaimed directors from their countries and both have found worldwide praise with their films.

I have heard of The Others (2001), Open Your Eyes (1997) and absolutely love the former.
But never heard of any of Son of the Bride (2001), Underdogs (2013), Avellaneda's Moon (2004) and The Weasel's Tale (2019).
