Thank you, added Davidge & Jerry from Enemy Mine.

Howard and Beverly seem to be a romantic relationship.

Mork & Mindy

A wacky alien comes to Earth to study its residents and the life of the human woman he boards with is never the same.

Coneheads

I'm almost sure they had human friends, but I don't remember who.

@mariojacobs

Mork & Mindy are a romantic couple.

Han Solo is not a human from Earth.

Spock is only half-alien.

Beldar Conehead seem to be friends with several human characters.

Also, I'm not including TV series. I'll add a note in the top post.

What about Paul and Willy and Clive and Ruth?:

Another would be Hogarth and the Iron Giant:

... maybe? ;)

Thank you for adding! :D

The Image you've chosen ist perfect!

I got an alternative that is also very good.

It shows Sam and Bumblebee in action. I leave it to you. The change isn't really necessary,

just a matter of taste:

Thanks. Sam would likely be cropped out in the image I picked, so I used yours instead.

FYC:

Uncle Martin and Tim O'Hara from My Favorite Martian

Lilo & Stitch from Lilo & Stitch

Mac and Eric from Mac and Me (which seems to be an ET Rip-off, but also a cult movie for those that like bad films)

There is also K-Pax but if Prot was an alien or not is a matter left to the audience interpretation.

Jessica motivated me to my new suggestion with her suggestion, this one. Today I was in cinema and I'm excited by Project Hail Mary

To say it like Steve Balmer:

I ... love ... that ... movie! ;)

Maybe it should rather be a bigger poll than a face-off?

@Pencho15

Thanks, but since My Favorite Martian was originally a TV show, I'm not sure it makes sense to include the movie instead.

Lilo & Stitch is a good suggestion, however, he's a bit different since he's not a naturally evolved species but engineered in a lab.

I want very specific options, it's about an encounter between a human and a species from another planet which results in a deep friendship (on the same level as Elliott & E.T. or Grace & Rocky).

The aliens should also not be best friends with more than one human, which means I have to remove Sam & Bumblebee, because I didn't realize Bumblebee had close bonds with other human characters. I think that maybe goes for Stitch too?

@Jessica Then Oh and Gratuity 'Tip' Tucci could qualify as Gratuity was shy and friendless before meeting Oh (at least throughout most of the movie to the best of my memory).

I read that Oh had a best friend called Kyle, but maybe their friendship wasn't as deep as Oh and Tip?

Just leave it off then. I cannot remember enough of the movie to say either way.

For your consideration:

Han Solo and Chewbacca (from the Star Wars series)

Lone Starr and Barf (from Spaceballs)

James T. Kirk and Spock from Star Trek (TV series and films)

Little Miss and Andrew (from Bicentennial Man)  Yes, he is a robot, but...

Will Robinson and the Robot (from Lost in Space tv series and films)  Yes, also a robot

Multiple combinations of best friends for the people and aliens in Third Rock from the Sun

Alex Rogan and Centauri (from The Last Starfighter)

@TheOldJalapenoman

Thanks, but I don't think any of your suggestions meet my criteria.

Han Solo and Lone Starr are not from Earth.

Star Trek, Lost in Space and 3rd Rock from the Sun are TV series, also Spock is half-human.

Andrew from Bicentennial Man is not an extraterrestrial.

I considered Alex and Centauri, but it seems they have more of a mentor-student relationship, and Alex was also friends with another alien character (Grig).

@Jessica

Kirk is from Earth (born in Iowa).  Spock may be half human, but he is also half Vulcan and born on Vulcan (both of which qualify him to be extraterrestrial).

I would also include the line from The Wrath of Khan: "I am now, and always shall be, your friend."

I take all of this from Star Trek canon and not the really, really awful Abrams reboots that rewrite the Star Trek universe.
