Live Poll: Characters Who Just Can't Be Hanged!

It is Ygor in "Son of Frankenstein." He says "They hanged me once Frankenstein. They broke my neck. They said I was dead. Then they cut me down. They threw me in here, long ago. They wouldn't bury me in holy place like churchyard. Because I stole bodies, eh they said. So, Ygor is dead! So, Dr. Frankenstein. Nobody can mend Ygor's neck. It's alright."

Okay. I'm glad you dug enough to find it! I got side-tracked.

Actually it wasn't that hard. You did half of the work. You see, in the original run of Universal studios monster movies featuring Frankenstein's monster, A.K.A. the 30s and 40s, Ygor appears in only two of the films: "The Son Of Frankenstein" (1939) and "The Ghost Of Frankenstein" (1942). He is not in the 1932 film "Frankenstein". You named the last film that Bela Lugosi played Ygor, in which Ygor's brain is transplanted into the monster's body, thus ending Ygor's further appearances until 1958, "Return Of The Monster Maker". So all I had to do is work backward from Ghost to the other film. You see, I got a book of the pictorial history of horror movies that only goes up to "Willard", aka, it constraints allot on the silent film era and 30's and 40's ( the late 40s and 50's is really more Sci-Fi horror movies than classic horror, because of the fear of nuclear radiation kicked off by the nuclear bomb (which is odd because, technically, "Frankenstein" is early science fiction but very few think of it as such)). Anyway, I digress, from that book, I knew that Ygor was a very small part that was made bigger by how Bela Lagosi played him. It is the only other role Lagosi is really known for other than playing Dracula.

We worked as a team, and came to a successful result. Huzzah!

I got to go through them slow because you have allot there. I confess that I had to watch "Bend of the River" again ( I have it as a part of a box set of James Stewart westerns). I had remembered Cole but I wasn't sure about McLyntock.
I'll have to think about Jack The Ripper, Micheal Myers, and Jason. The rest look ok.

I did specify it was from part three in the comment. But I beg to differ on the point of Marty winning the poll. I'm sure Robin Hood, Captain Jack, Tuco, and Marshall Jed Cooper would be in contention for the top. Never bet against Eastwood, Flynn, and Deep.
But your point is duly noted.

You might want to reword this entry a bit. It makes it seem as though Silverado was where he was supposed to be hung.

Ether that or just remove him. Remembered, in my entry for Jack Sparrow, the first one, of the two times mentioned, is that he was in prison to be hung the next day.
But yes, I do prefer, for this list, scenes where the rope is near or around the person's neck and they still escape. But that doesn't mean I won't consider characters like McLyntock and Ygor whose attempt at being hung where not shown in their films, but the describe it instead and have the evidence of the attempt (the rope burn around the neck) .

It looks like he is staying. I disqualified Jason as he is actually more of the undead variety. And if you read the list, you can see my problem with Micheal Meyers. In most of the Halloween films, there is a final shot meaning that he isn't dead. In H20, there is no shot at the end like that which means that the beheading was indeed the demise of Meyers. The explanation in resurrection was really bad and tacked on.

Amend. But I am keeping , "From the 1994 film, "Maverick", where Mel Gibson played him, he was tried to the horse and the rope was around his neck to make sure he dies. " as one sentence because "From the 1994 film, "Maverick"" and "where Mel Gibson played him" are phrases apart of the longer sentence. They are not a sentence themselves.
Thank you anyway. I have bad grammar and I seldom proof read. Also, I hate auto correct and auto spell check where I go to type in one thing and the damn auto correct changes it into something else. I end up looking like the fool every time it does that. But then again, it is my fault for not proof reading.

You still have one typo in #14 and two in #23.

If you don't want to use a period between "him" and "he," you could use a semi-colon:

With a comma, it's a run-on sentence. And like Jess pointed out, "tied" still has a typo -- the "r" is still in there, reading "tried." I really like this poll, by the way, and the info. you provide for each option makes it pretty funny. :-)

Thanks. Here is the funny part. Before I went to see "The Mummy" , it wasn't a poll. When I come out of the movie, it is a poll. Maybe I should see a horror movie more often.

Thank you. Especially since Tuco and Captain Jack Sparrow are running in a neck and neck too close to call dead heat. And yes, the comparisons to the area of the body a hanging affects the most and the words of those phrases did not go in-noticed.

Did. Rejected. He is an undead character. Hanging would have no effect on him. Jen suggest him up above along with a couple of vampires. No undead.

I see, but you can always debate whether or not he already was an undead character at that time. I always thought he became an undead killing machine in part six Jason Lives. Between part two and part four, I always thought he was just a hermit living in a shack. Besides if he truly drowned in that lake, how is it even possible for him to grow so fast. He's just a little boy in the end of the original and when part two comes along, he's already an adult.
