Which of these brotherly relationships seen in Game of Thrones (2011), House of the Dragon (2022) and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (2026) do you find the most interesting?

I don't think it is necessary for the characters to have a scene together (a significant plot point trumps that factor) or be in an image together to be included in the brotherly relationship answer pool. Ideally, it would be nice to have the image together though, but hard to get an image shot of just the brothers together sometimes . I also get that brotherly relationships can be considered as a group or as a one-on-one dynamic, as well as, the links get complicated with halves and bastards in the poll.

FYC,

  • I would specify blood-related brothers or biological brothers, as their are a number of other notable brotherhoods in Westeros, including the Brotherhood without Banners, Broken Men, and other bands of outlows, robber knights, sellswords and pirates. I think the Night's Watch, the Order of Masters and assorted male religious orders (Brown brothers and Begging Brothers) that could also fall under the guise of a brotherhood too.
  • I would include the Baratheon brother trio of Robert Baratheon (brother) Stannis Baratheon (brother) Renly Baratheon (brother) [as the War of the Five Kings was a battle between the brothers]. I think this makes the relationship one of the more interesting brotherly relationships as competing king claimants after the death of the oldest brother (#8)
  • I recall several scenes with both bothers, Joffrey Baratheon (brother) and Tommen Baratheon (brother) together along with their sister in the first season, during the Purple Wedding Ceremony and Reception scenes, and viewing of Joffrey's body prior to his funeral @ The Great Sept of Baelor in King's Landing, but I agree there is limited one-on-one interaction between the two in the series. You might consider adding Gendry to this group as a Robert Baratheon bastard (from the Crownlands), who was legitimized and assumed control as the Lord of the Stormlands and head of House Baratheon. I think this makes the relationship one of the more interesting brotherly relationships as all three served as brotherly heads of House Baratheon.
  • Robb, Bran, Rickon Stark and Jon Snow (Jon was raised under the veil of being a Stark half-brother [bastard], but in reality, Jon was an adopted brother and a blood-relation Stark cousin). I think this makes the relationship one of the more interesting brotherly relationships. (#9)
  • I think these four Targaryen brothers should be considered as a group, Aerion "Brightflame" Targaryen / Daeron "The Druken" Targaryen / Aemon (Maester Aemon) Targaryen / Aegon V Targaryen aka "Egg". I think how story of how each was in the royal succession line and how the royal succession plays out, how it figures into the plot line of two series, as well as, their interrelationships justifies the group relationship. (#6)
  • Rhaenyra Targaryen - Personally, I would list two groupings of brothers for each group that was fathered by a different person. Plus, one group resides mostly at Dragonstone (with the third youngest sent to the Vale for protection) and other group (with the fourth and fifth youngest sent to Pentos for protection) sent to Essos. Both of these separate groups should have more signicance to the plotline in the future and the overallstory as they enter their teens and become dragonriders, even though they have scored minor plot plots as infants and preteen royals.
  1. with Harwin Strong [under the guise that they were fathered by Laenor Velaryon] (full brothers): Jacaerys Velaryon, Lucerys Velaryon, and Joffrey Velaryon
  2. with Daemon Targaryen (full brothers): Aegon Targaryen and Viserys Targaryen

Thanks Urb, I appreciate your input and suggestions. :)

I added Joffrey and Tommen, but since Gendry was Robert's bastard, they're technically not related by blood, so probably OK to exclude him.

I'm still not sure about including Daeron and Aemon with Aerion and Egg. Even though Daeron has one scene with Egg (none with Aerion), the focus of the story is more Egg's relationship with Aerion. Of course, I could include Daeron and Egg as a separate option but that might be odd since I don't list any of the other characters twice.

And Aemon doesn't even appear in the show - he does in GoT, but they're two different shows and his brothers are long gone in that timeline.

On second thought, I do think Daeron and Egg's relationship is too important to ignore, so I'll either include them as a separate option or add Daeron with Aerion and Egg. I guess it could make sense to add them separately since their relationship is so much different than Aerion and Egg's.

@Jessica  You could list the larger brotherly group and still have a primary featured brotherly combo in each answer option to avoid the issue of including or excluding brothers. Plus, Joffrey, Tommen, and Gendry are blood-related, as they share a common father in Robert Baratheon.  I think you can do both, it is just a matter of approach and just making a statement of fact, in addition to the brotherly combination that is your focal point.

  • Featured Brothers: Jeffrey Baratheon & Tommen Baratheon

part of a larger brotherly group of Jeffrey Baratheon / Tommen Baratheon / Gendry Baratheon (bastard, later legitimized) with a common father, Robert Baratheon.

  • Featured Brothers: Stannis Baratheon & Renly Baratheon [as the War of the Five Kings was a battle between the brothers after the death of the eldest brother]

part of a larger brotherly group of Robert Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon, and Renly Baratheon

  • Featured Brothers: Aerion "Brightflame" Targaryen & Aegon V Targaryen aka "Egg"

part of a larger brotherly group of Aerion "Brightflame" Targaryen / Daeron "The Druken" Targaryen / Aemon (Maester Aemon) Targaryen / Aegon V Targaryen aka "Egg".

Jaime Lannister was the biological father of Joffrey and Tommen.

I see your point, but I don't think it's necessary to list all brothers and might even be confusing since some of them are not even seen, such as Aerys and Rhaegel Targaryen (brothers to Maekar and Baelor) and Brandon Stark (brother to Ned and Benjen).

I'll add Daeron to the Aerion and Egg option. Since Aemon is not seen in the show I think it's reason enough to exclude him.

@Jessica

Oops, my mistake, I had forgotten about Jaime Lannister. You almost need a scorecard to keep track of all the bastards on the show.

I made my thoughts known and pointed out some other brother groups, so I don't think there will be any glaring ommissions.  I agree with whatever approach you choose to take. The brotherly relationships and dynamics are so grey (not black or white), that there is no right or wrong way to do this poll.

I don't understand the low interest for this poll. I've said that before, but this time I really don't get it - Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are hugely popular shows and it's not like the question is overly complicated.

Well, I voted for Aegon and Aemond.
