They snubbed Mads Mikkelsen for the second time.
But Thomas Vinterberg for Best Director is a great surprise.
Pedro Almodóvar's The Human Voice not being nominated as Live Action Short
I can't believe they snubbed Delroy Lindo, I wasn't that impressed about the film but his performance was mind-blowing.
My biggest surprise was on a pure personal level, for the first time, I didn't get on the website to follow the nominations one by one, and I just checked a few minutes ago, lol it must be the least passionate Oscar race I've ever followed since I started. I didn't root for any particular actor or film...
Delroy Lindo included.
It is ready, but with a lot of room for more suggestions.
I have a question:
Why 'Minari' was not nominated for Best International Film?
Minari was not a candidate for International Feature because it is an American production.
Regarding #8 Aaron Sorkin: he was nominated as a writer, so you should specify that you are referring to directing.
I included the category, thanks.
David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet not nominated for Best Documentary Feature
I'm not sure if it should be included since it wasn't in the Documentary short list, but I'll mention it in #22. Alongside the rest of the Documentaries.
Tenet was robbed.
It should have been nominated for Best Score and Cinematography.
I was certainly expecting it to do better, at least due to the fact that it was one of the very few big releases of the year that voters had the chance to watch.
It is a well-known fact that the Academy doesn't like Nolan. So, I'm not surprised.
Plus, the Academy has always seemed to have something against science fiction movies, but at least several of them have been nominated in the past, and Shape of Water was a rare case of one winning an award. I don't blame Russell Crowe for his attitude toward the Oscars. Even more so I applaud what the long-gone Marlon Brando did way back in the day in that regard. The people who have been running that show and who will continue to run it are chronically Hollywood-centric.
