FAQ: Posting Emojis and Special Characters on Sprinklr
This FAQ covers the most efficient ways to access emojis and special characters across both the Windows (10 & 11) and macOS ecosystems. Please note: Please do not include special characters in polls. The Poll Admin Tool produces an error message when lists include special characters.
🛠️ Windows (10 & 11)
1. The Quick Emoji & Symbol Panel
This is the modern successor to the old "Character Map."
Shortcut:
Windows Key+.(period) orWindows Key+;(semicolon).Features: * Search: Just start typing a word (e.g., "rocket" or "heart") immediately after opening the panel to filter results.
Tabs: Click the icons at the top to switch between Emojis, GIFs, Kaomoji (classic text-based faces like
(^_^)) and Symbols.Symbols Tab: This is excellent for finding math symbols (∞, =), currency, and accented letters without needing Alt codes.
2. Traditional Alt Codes (Numeric Keypad Required)
If you have a full-sized keyboard with a number pad, you can insert specific characters by holding Alt and typing a 4-digit code.

🍎 Apple MacBooks (macOS)
1. The Character Viewer
This is the equivalent of the Windows Emoji panel but much more powerful for technical users.
Shortcut:
Command (⌘)+Control+Spacebar.Features:
Search: Use the search bar for emojis or specific Unicode names (e.g., "Zero Width Space").
Expanded View: Click the small icon in the top-right of the panel to expand it into the full Character Viewer. This allows you to browse specific categories like Technical Symbols, Letterlike Symbols, and Arrows.
The Globe Key: On most modern Macs (M1/M2/M3), you can simply tap the Globe (fn) key in the bottom-left corner to trigger this panel.
2. The "Press and Hold" Accent Menu
For letters with diacritics (like é or ü):
Action: Press and hold the letter on your keyboard.
Result: A small menu appears with numbered variations of that letter. Press the corresponding number to insert it.
3. Option Key Shortcuts
Macs use the Option (⌥) key for fast access to common symbols:
Option + 2: Trademark (™)
Option + G: Copyright (©)
Option + R: Registered (®)
Option + 5: Infinity (∞)
Option + =: Not Equal (≠)
Option + Shift + -: Em Dash (—)
💡 Pro-Tip: Text Replacements (Both Systems)
If you frequently use complex strings (like Unicode identifiers or long decorative dividers), you can create "auto-correct" shortcuts.
On Windows: This is usually handled within specific apps (like Word or Outlook) via File > Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options.
On Mac: Go to System Settings > Keyboard > Text Replacements. You can set a trigger like
!shrugto automatically turn into¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

For a long time we were able to post the old animated GIFs from planetsmilies.com. Now the images don't seem to be allowed, even though the image upload feature lists gif as an acceptable file type.
