I've put all your suggestions on the list. I just want to avoid the poll becoming a Fandom vote with 10+ LOTR options, so please don't submit any more Lord of the Rings suggestions. I'll apply the same rule to other movies and series as well.

This is what I satet in the thread for Part 1:

"Give me a character and the item, he/she is most associated with. Please not soo many further superheroes, because nearly EVERY superhero has his/her special item. I'd cut it to at the utmost three additional superhero items, not more. The best suggestion would win the option. Best give me an image where the item misses and the face crumbles about. ;)"

I've put some rules above they are the effective rules for now. Thank you for suggesting. It's always an enrichment when you do. Just .. I've partly put some better images on the list, but also took those you suggested. Thank you. :D

@Breumaster   FYI:  Groucho's mustache and eyebrows were not real in his movies from the 20's thru 1949.  They were painted on greasepaint (not even artificial hair).  He didn't grow a real mustache until his television days.  You can add the mustache and eyebrows as they were just a prop!

Also, in discussing Tarzan... in United States English, he is said to be swinging on a "vine."  Most people here would be unfamiliar with a liana.  I asked my son (34) and granddaughter (9) who are at my house right now and neither was familiar with the word.  Maybe you could list it as lianas/vines.

I'll change that liana-thing. I just used a dictionary, which translates Lianen to lianas.

Groucho Marx: I's about character's not about actors and what they have to do for their role. That's why I wrote Rufus T. Firefly in Groucho Marx' option. That's his character. I leave out body parts to not make it a mustache and/or nose-show. Except when the character in the movie uses disguises like e.g. Instepteur Clouseau. Then it's an item.

I'm guessing that you are not going to count the artificial enhancements that helped to make Raquel Welch and Dolly Parton so famous!

Dark Helmet (from Spaceballs) and his "Schwartz"

Added the big helmet with that squeaky little guy in it. Are the artificial enhancements of Raquel and Dolly enhancements that their characters use, or are you writing about enhancement that help to be an actor?

@Breumaster   I was joking about their boob jobs.  Both had artificial breast enhancement surgery and were famous for their "big tracts of land."  (to use an expression from The Holy Grail)

@Breumaster   The Schwartz for Dark Helmet wasn't his helmet.  Basically, it was a belt buckle that became the source for his light saber (like in Star Wars).  He called it his "schwartz" and it was funny to see him sword fight from a weapon in his crotch.  In a light saber battle with his enemy Lone Star, he says "so I see that your Schwartz is as big as mine."

Sorry. I don't know anymor what the German dub said. I just know that the German word "Schwanz" exactly says "d.i.c.k." or "c.o.c.k.". Schwartz is j.i.d.d.i.s.h., as I remember. That would fit to Brook's humor. I didn't read the "schwartz", somehow. I'll search for an image for it. It would have been more obvious, If it was on the image, you provided.

I never understood why women want breast enhancement - and I have even less understanding of why some men desire that. Natural breasts, whatever their size, are admirable in themselves.

It makes no difference whatsoever, even if nothing was there in first or remained – say, after cancer treatment with breast removal – what matters most to me is the spirit of the woman! Spirit and longing must harmonize.

Barney was kind of a klutz and a very nervous man.  If he had a loaded gun, he would accidentally fire it into his foot or whatever might be in front of him.  He was only issued one bullet at a time and had to keep it in his shirt pocket.

Don Knotts won five straight Emmy awards for playing the role.

Well, since there is already two LotR options here, I guess this wouldn't qualify, but as a Tolkien fan who read all Middle-earth books and may or may not have watched each movie 10+ times, I must tell you that you are kinda missing the most iconic and obvious option: Frodo without the One Ring!!!

It might have been a little wrong to eclude THE ring. It's just that I don't want to get my 30 options polls wrecked with options that grab 90% of the voters. So I have to invent criterias in the rules that sort out that kind of suggestions. I have no guilty conscience about that. I was told to make criteria to sort out options when I started here and everyboby does. To be true I often do when it comes to "dangers" like The Godfather, which I think is overrated, Matrix, LOTR, Tarantino movies. Especially Tarantino always does the same receipe on almost every movie and I don't like it. I think he only likes to install hate. But with fading interest in the audience, I think I can skip that options rules.

@Breumaster   THE RING, while in the movie trilogy, is possessed by:

Sauron

Gollum

Isildor

Bilbo

Frodo

Sam

Why is it Frodo's ring?  Gollum had it for over 500 years, Bilbo had it about 60 or so years, and who knows how long Isildor and Sauron had it.

I though the same, so I've made some changes. The fist two characters which are affected by THE ONE ring are Frodo and Gollum, Gollum even more than Frodo. Just look at him. In deed the whole cast wasn't if there wasn't THE ONE ring. So I've put both on this list, Frodo and Gollum to see who will get more votes. The other are not so affected like these two are. I've made up a third list where I've put your two suggestions of LOTR, Legolas and Gimli. I still don't want this poll to make a fan-meeting. Understandable isn't it? With 3+ options it would be that.

But it's Sauron's ring - he's the owner of the object, and most of the other characters' objects in the list are distinctly theirs.

I'm not saying you should add Sauron as an option, but I think you should remove Frodo and Gollum.

Why? Sauron is shown lesser than 5 Minutes in the movie versions I saw. Although he created the ring, I would link it more to Frodo and Gollum. Especially these two are like rivals/competitors for me. Sauron isn't He is just a margin note for me, a statist, even though he sets the basics for the story.

Yes, but, it is technically Sauron's Ring. In the Second Age, he forged it to rule all the Rings, and he tricked the smiths into forging other Rings, including Celebrimbor (who forged the three elven rings, but they were saved and each Gil Galad, Elrond, Galadriel, Cirdan and ultimately Gandalf possessed one of them through the generations). 9 Rings were for men, and that 9 men turned into Nazgûls. He had it for much longer than other bearers (Isildur, Gollum, Bilbo and Frodo). Even though you would link them more to Frodo and Gollum (because you watched the movies), I would link it much more to Sauron, because I also read the LotR books and The Silmarillion, where much of the history of the Rings was told, and watched the movies (but movies don't show the timeline at all), because he is the creator and had it for the longest. So, I'd say that Jessica is right that you should remove Frodo and Gollum.

Indeed, it's not only Frodo's Ring. Others had it for a much longer time:

Sauron had it for ~1840 years

Gollum had it for ~480 years

Bilbo had it for ~60 years

Frodo had it for ~18 years (in the books, the movie cuts a big part in the beginning which lasted for 17 years in The Shire)

Isildur had it for 2 years.

You know I'm not a LOTR nerd. And I guess most of the audience aren't either. LOTR became interesting for the masses, when the movies arived. Since that time stamp people that even didn't hear about the books suddenly were the biggest fans. I doubt that the masses know those time-counts: 2 years ... 1840 years. I who only saw the movies, but didn't read the books (I tried, but slept away by 20 pages describing a meadow), wouldn't have seen Sauron as a main figure in the movie. he was there for about 5 minutes and contained only a big rumble at the beginning, but there was no significant plot about in these movie. Only that he was the source. So I never gave him an enhanced meaning deriving from movies plot.

As you and Jessica state, I can also pick Sauron and/or another guy who carried the ring. You decide. Should I replace Frodo and Gollum with Sauron and whom ? Please remember 2 characters per franchise and per poll. 3 Polls = 6 characters. Still I don't want to make a pure fan-poll for special franchises.

Well, if you really want to keep them, keep only Frodo and don't add Sauron or anyone else. Gollum has the Ring for minimal time, and I wouldn't add two people who have/had the Ring, so I would exclude him from the list. If you want another LotR option, you can add Aragorn without his sword (or Aragorn without Narsil, but that is only in the third movie). But, consider if you're going to keep Frodo at all, since he doesn't want the Ring, wants to destroy it and it isn't his, and I would definitely remove Gollum. But, you decide.

I already said you don't have to add Sauron. You don't have to add the One Ring at all, since you already have two LotR options (Legolas and Gimli).

Ok, added Aragorn and Narsil. Gimli is still the other option in Part II, Legolas went to Part III. Either way I can't stand him. Better like the dwarfs. The ring-options are thrown of the board. I could add Sauron in Part II, If you want.

Thank you for suggesting, but These are somehow third row characters. To make the poll more succesfull and chooseable for the admins, it shouldn't be stuffed with characters only a few user that take part will remember. Everyone knows characters like Gimli, Forrest Gump, Captain America. But who will remember Ironside, Mr. Rourke, Laverne? Especially such characters like Laverne are seemingly shown more in the past in America, but I can't remember to have seen her on TV in Germany. Germany isn't exactly the third world. We got TV series from all around the world. Laverne & Shirley obviously is such an America-specific show, that hardly any other users outside will remember, especially because it ran in the 1970s. Same for the Deputy you explained. Thank you for that. But on the other hand it won't make the poll successful. I can't imagine that.

TV series like Hogan's Heroes are better known outside, I guess. First it was named "Stacheldraht und Fersengeld" (translates to: barb wire - better run, now), later "Ein Käfig voller Helden" (translates to: A cage full of heroes). The first title was more idomatic for the old German audience

@Breumaster   I have no idea which American television series or movies did well internationally.  I don't know if they were shown in Germany, Argentina, Botswana, Tibet, or Samoa.

I do know that Fantasy Island (Mr. Rourke as the main character) ran on American television for nine years.  I do know that the star, Ricardo Montolban (who played Roarke) was an international film star famous throughout Mexico and Central and South America also.  I do know that Ironside (the show was named for the main character, who was a wheelchair bound investigator) was a very highly rated show for nine years and starred the man who had played Perry Mason on television for over 20 years.  I know that Laverne and Shirley were one of the highest rated U.S. television shows for seven years and that the characters started out on another hit series (Happy Days).  These are not third rate characters on third rate series.

When Don Knotts wins five consecutive Emmy awards for playing Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show, that should also tell you that he was also not a third string character on a minor television series.  The only reason he didn't win more awards is because he mostly left the series to do movies.

Did someone know that joke?:

A priest and a rabbi decide to go swimming in the lake. Since all they brought were towels and no swimwear, they decide to skinny-dip, just as God made them. When they come back, they notice someone has stolen their clothes. Thankfully, the thief left their bathing towels behind. The priest immediately wraps his towel around his hips for the walk home. The rabbi wraps his around his ears. The priest asks him why on earth he'd wrap it around his head. From beneath the rabbi's towel comes a muffled voice: "Because my congregation recognizes me by my face."
