Film-Noir Misconception (Among Francophones)

In French, the word "Film-Noir" has become almost unusable. That is because the average joe doesn't make the difference between Film-Noir and "Film Black". Just today, when I was using "Film-Noir" in a regular conversation with my friends, I had to explain myself for the use of the word. It would be

Parents Guide section centering on Problematic depictions of race

Hello, I have been a fan of IMDB since its conception and a contributor for the past year- year and a half. I am a very big fan of movies of the "golden era" of the 1920s, 30s. and 40s hollywood. One specific example is the work of Buster Keaton. I was very excited to learn of a film of his that I h

'Stars' lists

Default title pages have a brief list of three stars from the cast at the top of the page. As I understand it from previous discussions, this has in some cases been set by IMDb to indicate main stars independent of the cast list displayed below. In other cases, it may be based on a formula, but usua

sort memorable quotes sequentially as they occur within a movie.

it would be a very nice enhancement of the "memorable quotes" page to allow users to enter a "time stamp" which would identify exactly when each quote occurs within the movie. these time stamps could then be used to automatically sort the quotes so that they appear in proper sequence.

"woke" keyword

"woke" should not be a keyword. It's definition: "alert to injustice in society, especially racism." This is extremely subjective, so it could perhaps be included in a review, but it has no place in a keywords list. I think of similar possible keywords from the past, like "hip," "with in," "chic," e

Does anyone know when Genderqueer, Transgender, or Other will be an option for the gender field on a profile?

The only options currently are "male" or "female" and one of my actors doesn't identify as either. But I can't list them without selecting a gender. Anyone know when IMDb is going to fix this?

expand number of results displayed

'Twould be nice if we could go beyond 100 items on a page when viewing a list, and beyond 250 per page on Advanced Title Search. 500, 1000, 2500, 5000, and 10000 increments sound about right.

IMDB Disability Section

I would find it specifically helpful if there were somewhere on IMDB where you could find out the level to which film production companies, or others, have gone to make life easier for people with hidden disabilities. My wife cannot read. Not her fault, she had a stroke in 2011, aged forty-nine, she

Title Merge should accept a URL or tt constant

Name merge does, and that's a very good thing, It enables precision. Here's what I get when I try to use the url: And it's the same when I use just the tt constant. If you change this to an Idea, please post a comment to that effect, so that followers can come back and upvote this.(NB: I'm reporting

Please accept the full url instead of requiring constants

As a contributor, making [link=] connections could be streamlined if only you accepted the full url instead of only the name/title constant. It would make sense to STORE just the constant, but don't make the contributor extract the constant from the URL. You know how your URLs look; you should be ab
