NO exceptions for any Alternate versions, Director's Cuts, etc.

I want to make my opinion public on this subject:

There should be NO EXCEPTIONS  whatsoever for ALTERNATE VERSIONS.

There is a separate IMDb page for:

Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12361974/

which is an Alternate Version (re-edit) of:

Justice League (2017)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0974015/

In my opinion, the 2021 version should appear merely as an alternate version of the original 2017 title, here:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0974015/alternateversions

My merge request for these 2 pages has been declined on these grounds, and I quote:

“While "Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)" title is a re-edit of the original film, it is reported to contain considerably different footage from the original release.

While it is rare that we display separate title listings for different film versions, if there are substantial changes/differences, we will make exceptions to display the version as a standalone title, as is in this case.”

Well, Roma locuta, causa finita.

Nevertheless, I’ve come here to vent out and make my position clear:

I strongly disagree with this arbitrary "exceptionalism" based on arbitrary notions of what a "considerable" or "substantial" amount of "different footage" is.

I think IMDb is capriciously breaking its own rules:

https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/alternate-versions/GB7UDDKCAAVFXCXH

and I think there should be NO exceptions whatsoever for any "alternate version", no matter how different/manipulated/expanded/tampered-with/re-re-re-edited from the original.

Another example: I also think this should apply to "Superman II", and these two pages should be merged into one:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081573/

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0839995/

I could give literally hundreds of examples of "Director's Cuts" of hundreds of movies. I'll just mention the most conspicuous ones:

Blade Runner (1982) with at least 3 different cuts, with 3 different  ratings, released through the years:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083658/alternateversions

Apocalypse Now (1979), with at least 3 different cuts,  with 3 different  ratings, released through the years:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078788/technical

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078788/alternateversions

BTW, I distinctly remember not long ago there was a separate page for “Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut (2020)”, that was merged, thankfully, into the original “Apocalypse Now (1979)” page.

Once Upon a Time in America (1984), with at least 4 different cuts, with 4 different ratings, released through the years:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087843/technical

and another DC superhero movie, with at 3 different cuts and 3 different ratings, released through the years:

Watchmen (2009)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409459/alternateversions

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409459/technical

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409459/parentalguide?ref_=tt_stry_pg#certification

I could go on and on, even mentioning other previous Zack Snyder and/or DC  superhero movies in equivalent situations.

There are several specific places in each movie page to include information at length about the different cuts and versions of each movie:

"Alternate versions" (detailed explanations), "Technical specs” (different runtimes) and "Certifications” (different ratings for different versions).

This 2021 redux of the 2017 Justice League movie is NOT different from any other "Director's Cut".

I don’t care if it ends up being 95% different from the original. It’s not a different title, it’s not a remake, it’s not a new movie. It is and always will be an alternate version of the same movie.

NO EXCEPTIONS.

The exception exists for cases whereby every scene of what could be a movie is reshot and only the reshot material is used for the finished product. The exception does not seem to apply to Apocalypse Now and Blade Runner.

I do supposed there could be exceptions to the exception, though. This is what comes to mind when I think of Star Wars Episode IX. Some projects are complete and total messes, representing potentially multiple movies (alternate stories) tied to the same production or executive producers. I'm genuinely curious to know what was going on concerning not only that movie (part of the sequel trilogy) but Rogue One as well.
