Updates to List Pages
Today (Dec 6) we are announcing an update to the List pages on the IMDb desktop experience. This update is part of the broader site changes announced recently (https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/upcoming-changes-to-several-imdb-features-du6man1opd5q0). After in-depth discussion and examination, we have decided to simplify the features and functionality for lists. We have merged “compact view” and list editing into a single Edit experience. In that one view, you can now modify your text and add, copy, delete and move items. We have also pulled List actions (edit, export, settings) together into a 1-click menu (the 3 vertical dots on the top right of the page). You will now also find two new options in the Refine menu: ‘In Theaters’ and ‘Keywords.’ Tech constraints on the new system prohibit us from continuing to support drag-and-drop from the Edit view; we appreciate your understanding. For more information about Lists, see the IMDb Help Center.

My display problems for titles in Greek are not solved. This is how it looks now in case I wasn't clear with what the problem is. Probably Russians, chinese and everyone with a non-Latin alphabet have the same problem.

Since the new look of Lists I am unable to add some persons to Lists because the search function in the edit List feature cant find them. This only seems to happen if I try to add/find porn actors/actresses and add them to a List.

I stumbled on the update to the original announcement below.
When you do such an edit, could you also do a comment or a reply echoing that update?
We who are following the thread do NOT receive notices for edits to prior posts.

As per Dan Dassow's earlier post, the sequence was:

I wanted to collect all the bugs and suggestions we reported since the switch flipped on Dec 6. I'll put the suggestions in a second list as a comment to this one to keep them together.
If I omitted something, accept my apologies and let me know. I'm certain that although I just scanned through all 4 pages of posts, some posts didn't display unless I clicked a View More link midstream. I may have missed some that way.
I've included responses from IMDb officials when got something.

- Predictable, deterministic, well-defined reordering behaviour. The >1000 film, "2 of 2 pages" and 2nd position bugs all need fixing.
- At least one way to move an item one position upwards that doesn't require any scrolling. This can be drag and drop or, as bderoes has suggested, a form submit event firing whenever the user presses enter inside a position textbox. The current solution of scrolling down to an item, changing its position number, scrolling all the way back up and then clicking a button to move an item up one place is not good enough.
- Fixed "Export CSV". It should export the same fields as before. And it should actually work. I'm still getting a ERR_RESPONSE_HEADERS_MULTIPLE_CONTENT_DISPOSITION, which sounds like "this is not a recognised file and HTTP response combination".
Things I want- Colour tags returned. These are very useful in complex lists that make extensive use of comments to give additional information about films. I can see absolutely no reason for their removal. I find it perplexing. Sure, as a feature, it's probably used by a fraction of a percent of all list-makers but the people who do use it are overwhelmingly the advanced and popular list-makers most likely to leave for another platform.
- List comments no longer italicised. There are other ways to demarcate text as "user content". All perma-italics does is make our comments look less presentable and preclude the use of italics for emphasis and for the grammatically correct citing of film titles.
- The film search from within list editor mode has been absolutely castrated: far fewer results and no subdivision into "exact", "substring" etc. I want it returned to how it was before.
Open questions- How does the new view counter work? Is it now counting all list views from an arbitrary date? If so, when? Is there a rolling window? I'm fine with modifying every list to start counting views from the same date but I want the total to be cumulative rather than rolling. From now on, our view counts should only ever increase.
Things you've done well- Formatting fixes were rolled out quickly and effectively. There's been no damage to my list's contents.
- Comments now feel central to lists (which is exactly what they are on my list). The separated and expanded comment area is the change I never knew I needed. The width is spot-on for readability while making comments feel like less of an afterthought.
- Finally - finally - links work properly in the main list description box.
- The whole UI on both the user and editor side just looks better to me now. There's no debating that the old UI was starting to feel very web 2.0. That's not inherently a bad thing, of course, and some people will prefer it but I rather like the new look.
- I love some of the minor touches like being able to see full comments in editor mode rather than a scrolling textarea.
One single feature that would stop me migrating from IMDb11

I see that there have been recent changes to list edit page. And I am severely disappointed in seeing that still there is no option/way of displaying all the items on one page(while viewing or editing).
People at Imdb must understand that it becomes very difficult to manage the list when there are a total of hundreds of items in the list and only 100 items displaying on one page!
To know where to insert the item, or even just to view the whole list, one has to traverse through a lot of pages and do a lot of clicks and scrolling down.
I think Imdb has missed a great opportunity to fix this issue. I request to please provide this option. If you can't, the least you can do:-
Thanks.

Because of Dan Dassow's superb revelation that ATS compact formatting can be applied to lists made by others, I have also applied this technique to comparing someone else's list with mine, namely: set up the ATS with 2 of my lists, then replace the id of my surrogate list with the id of the other person's list.
So this URL
http://www.imdb.com/search/title?lists=ls076628701,ls007035631
gives
Most Popular Titles In Your "megapack: Family Classics 50" List, In Your "own" List
The first list is the surrogate, so I replace ls076628701 with the id of the target list on a different account, and I get the subset of titles belonging to both lists.
Of course, if you want to refine the search with other parameters, you have to do so on the surrogate, and then substitute the target again. And there's no reason one of your own lists need be involved, except as a surrogate. Anything ATS can do to my lists, I can get it to do to a list not mine.
I'm very excited about this, since it beats the heck off importing that other list (100 titles at a time) into my account, doing my searches and then deleting the import.
Dan, thanks AGAIN!

When I go to the page http://rss.imdb.com/user/ur5439845/watchlist I expect to see RSS/feed XML content, but I'm greeted with a normal web-page of my watchlist. I'm using this feed with another service, which is showing parse failures because it doesn't contain valid feed XML anymore.
Can you please fix this issue? I noticed it today, so it could be a regression from a recent software update of your system.
Kind regards,
Robin Smidsrød

Can IMDB please at the very least make these lists available in compact mode only for the publisher of the lists? Again its like writing a story but you have to keep flipping/scrolling up page after page to see what you wrote just a little while ago. I would appreciate a response as I have been a long time IMDB user since the 90s. Thank you we appreciate your work and hope you value our input.
