Sugg: Most Exciting 2026 FIFA World Cup Match

The 2026 FIFA World Cup (2026) is over and Spain became the champions after beating Argentina in the final. Before these we saw 104 matches, with surprises, joy or anguish for football fans all over the world.

These are some of the most important matches including the best rated by IMDb users. Which one was the most exciting for you?

In general the best rated match are listed but there are some exceptions.

Besides the final four matches which are listed despite their rating, I made an effort to include as many teams as possible, so I established a rule to have a maximum of 3 matches per team unless that particular match was the only representing the second team.

That way, Argentina vs. Algeria and Austria are excluded because Argentina had already gone over the max number of matches and both Algeria and Austria had another match on the list (A match I would have loved to exclude as I am convinced it was fixed but had to keep to respect my own rules).

In the same way Sweden vs. France and Norway vs. Senegal where left out to make room to include matches involving Iraq, Tunisia and Scotland who barely made the cut.

Despite all these there wasn't room to include any match by Colombia, Canada, South Africa, Qatar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jordan, Panama, Ghana and Australia so I'm sorry for fans of those countries but there wasn't a single well rated match that I could squeeze in with a further tweak.

Definitely France vs. England. Not only because it was a roller coaster of a match, but we got to see incredible records being broken by three different players in a single match.

Kylian Mbappé broke the record for most goals scored in World Cup history (22).
Jude Bellingham broke the record for most goals scored by an English player and most goals scored by a midfielder in a World Cup (7).
Michael Olise broke Pelé's 56-year-old record for most assists in a World Cup (7).

Amazing.
