Im making up that threat for the case of very recently deceased celebrities.

This is for information and discussion about poll making for people who deserve a respectful obituary

Rest in Peace, Mr. Arkin. He was a good actor and so funny in Little Miss Sunshine.

@Tsarstepan you might want to add that he was an original cast member of Chicago’s Second City. To me, his most memberable role was one most people wouldn’t associate with him because it was so totally opposite of what he normally played. He terrified the hell out of me as Roat in Wait Until Dark (1967).  a role many say he was overlooked for an Oscar nomination because he played a villain terrorizing Audrey Hepburn. A role that Robert Duvall played on the stage.

Even Stephen King said, ”In his non-fiction book Danse Macabre, Stephen King declared this to be the scariest movie of all time and that Alan Arkin's performance "may be the greatest evocation of screen villainy ever."”

My favorite film critic, Marc-André Lussier, died on June 30th. I think he is been really really important to my cinephilia. I valued his opinion when he reviewed a new release, his analyses were always on point. And, they far exceeded what one would expect of a free journal's movie critic. When he loved a film, he made sure that everyone knew it. But, even when a film was not his cup of tea, he was fair enough to find some redeeming qualities.
What I love even more about him is that he did not, as so many commercial film critics do, review only the popular releases. He reviews arthouse films too. Even as my tastes grew more diverse with the years, I never felt that my knowledge or my openness to world cinema exceeded his. In that way, he sort of was my ideal. The few critics that I have published were inspired by his writing style.
For me, it is a great loss. I will have to turn myself toward more formal film criticism (Séquences, 24 Images, Cahiers du cinéma, Sight and Sound) because nobody could equal Lussier as far as commercial criticism goes.

No. He published his film reviews on https://www.lapresse.ca/cinema/. If you are not from Quebec, you do not have much chance of hearing about him.

I posted a message containing an embedded video from YouTube with the soundtrack of Sinead O'Connor's cover of the song O filii et filiae., but the message has been marked "private" for a long while now, perhaps due to the graphic nature of the movie from which the excerpt montage that comprises the video originates.

I thought he was Jim Brodabent for a moment. I don't recall knowing of any of his work. I'm pleased to see that he made it to ninety years old, but I hope he wasn't in too much pain leading up to death. A lot of people spent their last years or months, in and out of the hospital.

For some reason, I thought she had already passed a while back. So many old timers are reaching the end lately, maybe it is hard for some of us to keep track.
