@urbanemovies​   Just a thought... did The Princess Bride join Wesley (the Dread Pirate Roberts) as a pirate before he turned the ship over to Inigo Montoya?

@TheOldJalapenoman​  Here is the final act from the film from The Princess Bride wikia. I think she is rescued, then the Dread Pirate title is offered to Inigo, but it is unclear whether he accepts the offer,  they ride off together and the Wesley and Princess Buttercup up share a kiss. It isn't clear and would be more of pirates-by-marriage (assuming they got married) option, as a possible best a case scenerio.

Ideally, the options I am looking to upgrade are the more gray ones, swapping out former pirates and those who only help and associate with pirates for female characters that are more black&white pirates or full-fledged pirates.

These qualities would check a couple boxes: 1) pirate leader or member of a pirate ship crew, 2) personally commit acts of piracy or commit illegal acts to aid & abet the pirate cause 3) self-described as a pirate or be considered a pirate by other pirates.

@TheOldJalapenoman​ Thanks, it worked out anyway. I was able to find a dozen more live-action female characters from a mix of current, classic and foreign movies and tv series. But, they mostly were from less notable titles and although still worthy, were definitely more obscure. I have spun off the animated female pirates onto a separate poll list, Female Pirate You Most Want To Emulate [Animated]. Feel free to make suggestions on the other list or this one, if any other pirate potrayals do come to mind.

@Jessica​ I corrected both #31: Jeannie Bell & #32: Hetty Baynes. Although, Jeannie Bell, now goes by Jean Bell professionally, she was credited in this film and over the first 2/3 of her films as "Jeannie".

Thanks, for the Sharako Lohar from House of the Dragon suggestion. 

I agree Sharako Lohar from House of the Dragon should be considered, but would lean against her inclusion as 1) she was commanding the combined three city-state  government navies of Free Cities of Lys, Myr, and Tyrosh (Triarchy) 2) the Triarchy Fleet defeated the pirates operating in the area of Stepstones & Narrow Sea (putting them on opposite side of the pirate cause) 3) The loot they secured from passing ships was a government-sanctioned toll or protection fee or tax. "The Triarchy's navies levied high taxes on all passing ships in exchange for this protection, however, and as the years passed the taxes grew worse than what the losses to the pirates used to be." 4) the Triarchy fleet and their admiral don't self-describe as "pirates", even though others would regard them as worse than pirates. 

In end, I think you could argue the Triarchy were commiting acts of piracy, under the veil of being the government or a government-sanctioned force, at worst the label that could  be used to describe the Triarchy Fleet would be as "privateers".

@Jessica​, Thanks, your suggestion sparked this other female Westeros pirate leader to come to mind.

To answer my own question, he does face off against "The Sea Hag" (a female pirate) multiple times.  The picture that I found was from 2004's "Popeye's Voyage: The Quest for Pappy."  In this one, the Sea Hag is played by Kathy Bates (which is a bigger name to add to your poll).  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0400743/mediaviewer/rm3363525376/
