Live-Poll: Things You Would Never Say To a Gangster Movie Character

Intro:

About two years ago a poll was made, which asked you what you would never say to a horror movie character. Now we aim for criminal characters. There are some things you surely wouldn't say to a gangster character, if you would meet him or her in real life. But if you fictionally would, what would be the most dangerous no-go appeal?

Give us your offer here.

Rules:

Gangster movies that are known, worthy.  Better 7/10, but I do amens for special cases.

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls083018638/

To Tommy DeVito: You are funny!!

And there is a small typo for Crank:

 too short

Brijesh: I was just about to say something like that. But I'd expand it to, "You are funny! Like Bozo the Clown! You must be here to amuse me."

Thank you, brijesh. :D

My keyboard sometimes "swallows" letters. I've put your suggestion on the list and expanded it a little like gromit suggested.

Thank you, gromit. :D

I have one more suggestion, but I am not very good at quotes. So, someone can suggest a better one.

White Heat- To Cody Jarrett: "Tell your Ma, I was at the Top of the world when you reached there"

White heat? Cody Jarret? Please help my memory.

If you mean character to character, it's not the idea. The idea is what the users of IMDb wouldn't say to a gangster character.

I think White Heat might have confused here, that is a 1949 movie name, if you are not aware in case.

The actual quote from movie is "Made it ma, top of the world" by Cody Jarrett.

I hope my quote make sense now and that is something I wouldn't say to the character.

To Cody Jarrett: "Tell your Ma, I was at the Top of the world when you reached there"

Better understandable. I don't know the movie, but it seems interesting. Is Cody Jarrett a gangster?

Just checked the site of this movie. In G it's 'Maschinenpistolen', which means "machine guns".

Now I know your intention. I saw the movie! It's good, Brijesh, I put it on the list. ;D

Maybe you know a phrase wich could be even more dangerous, I would place it at the option of Cody Garrett. ;)

Cody Jarrett was a leader of Jarrett gang.

There are several other phrases from the movie which I didn't remember. A quick google to remember.

He says this "A copper! A copper!! And I treated him like a kid brother......and I was going to go 50-50 with a copper!!" when he discovered a mole in the gang.

Another conversation:

Roy: You wouldn't kill me in cold blood, would ya?
Cody: No, I'll let ya warm up a little.

One more:

Roy: It's stuffy in here, I need some air.
Cody: Oh, stuffy, huh? I'll give ya a litte air.

and then shoots him.

May be you could create something around it.

Expanded the title with the word "movie", like in the horror movie character-thread.

Deleted one option of the godfather, re-arranged the list a little to be more attractive.

As long as there are no further suggestions, I consider the list as ready to go.

Please correct:

#4: Jules Winnfield: "Hi Jules. I'm from Jehova's Witnesses. Would you like to talk with me?"

#6:  He was so nice to her, I think she's gonna marry him."

#18: "I know what you did in the summer of '94."

Thank you, Jessica.

Winnfield, Whitnesses

cute = nice

the summer of '94

When I watch English movie scenes, I often catched the phrase "he is so cute", like e.g. in Mel Brooks' Robin Hood movie. --> "... or if he were really cute".  But nice is better, thank you. I changed it. Mostly I can use words intuitively, but sometimes I f*** it up. ;)

Great poll, Breu! There are so many good choices, too, so it will be difficult to choose but right now I'm leaning toward "You are funny..." to Tommy DeVito.  : )

Not all of these characters are gangsters, though, and not all of the movies are gangster movies so perhaps change the title to something like "Sociopath Movie Character" or "Movie Psychopath?"

FYC:

To Travis Bickle: "You talkin' to me?"

To Hannibal Lecter: "I don't believe that you ever ate a census taker's liver with fava beans and nice Chianti."

@rubyfruit76

I wouldn't know which one of them isn't a gangster. They all work at least in a gang related structure. Hit men are gangsters, too. Some work for ganster bosses. And gangster bosses are gangsters, too - viewed from above, they are all just plain gangsters. That doesn't count for Hannibal, who really is just a psychopathic guy, that somehow gained a doctor-title. Travis Bickle is acting completely alone. I appreciate that you want me to put some of your ideas on the list, but I don't want to change the topic, sorry. :D

Maybe I do a psychopath list later. Then I already have two candidates. ;)

Breu, I would never, ever suggest something in order to get my ideas on a list. Besides, it rarely matters to me if suggestions of mine are added.

Unless there's something I'm forgetting, neither Anton and Joker are gangsters.

Oh yes, they are. Do remember when the Joker was in a gang of clowns that robbed the criminal's bank at the beginning of 'The Dark Knight'? That's generally called a gangster. It doesn't matter that they should have better not trusted him. The acting as criminals together defines the gang.  Anton is an arm of the mafia. They made somehow money, which was stolen by Llewelyn Moss. So they send their hitman. It's like Winnfield and Vega. They work for Wallace. Just because the boss of Anton isn't shown, doesn't mean that he is not acting in a gang. Both work in criminal structures. "Dr." Lecter doesn't, neither Travis. They are just acting on their own authority.

I'm slightly surprised that no pirate ship captains were suggested, as the distinction between pirates and gangsters is almost nonexistent.
