Live Poll: The Most Triggering Sound Effects

Intro:

When it comes to moviemaking the moving images are the king and the king has a royal court, which makes him even more impressive. The sound! Since the movies got sound, all are concentrated on the dialogues and on music, which are making the movies more atmospheric. But one little agent provocateur triggers the audiences subconciously. The sound effect! It may trigger you in any kind, from tensing to calming and anything in between.

Which of these kinds of sound effects triggers your interest in the scene or sequence the most?

Tell us here.

Suggestions:

Please suggest with image(s). The image should best be iconic for the sound effect. Such like the first two options on the list. Heading for 25 options. If there are not enough suggestions, maybe a few more to go. Maybe someone finds a better image for alarming bells. Even in the sites of firefighter movies, it's not easy to find images of alarming bells. It can also be anoter image of an alarming bell. It should show the bell more dominant. P.S.: I enhanced the option of "alarming bells" to "alarming sirenes and alarming bells" and changed the image.

Very good idea, but I would prefer an alied egg from alien or Aliens as image. Maybe I'll find one. 25 options reached. From now on, the suggestions have to be very different from another. Maybe I'd take slightly more that 25. But first I would think of changing out another option, if there are famous suggestions.

I'm sorry. I must admit that I didn't saw the movie or I was so young that I won't remember. But I heard that it was a guy who was catched by a crocodile. The only image which could look like that is a guy who falls in the water, but without showing a crocodile. I guess it would have been to heavy for the audience to see a guy becoming a meal for a crocodile in that times. Today the cam points at such scenes, the movie shows liters of blood and flesh wounds. In that earlier  time it would have been unbearable to the audience. Please look at the last option. I guess it is the right scene. Isn't it? I just didn't want to put a wrong image for exact that scene there. ;)

Got a better image. I've put your idea on the list, because it happens in many movies. Especially for showing "older times". The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, Harry Potter, Murder at the Orient Express - movies like that. Now I got 25+1. I wouldn't know which option I should put off the list. But when there are even more suggestions, maybe I'll make a second list.

I added your suggestions in the option of alarming sirenes and alarming bells, because these are all strong alarming sound, which are related and shake people up. These are all strongly alarming sounds.

@Breumaster,

#1: The nerve-racking sound of drops

#18: The sounds of machine guns, mini guns or Gatling guns.

Gatling should be capitalized, since it is a proper noun. It is named after Richard Jordan Gatling.

As your poll correctly suggests:

"one little agent provocateur triggers the audiences subconciously."

That being so, how is one able to say:  "Which of these kinds of sound effects triggers your interest in the scene or sequence the most" if, as you say, it happens subconsciously?

Just a thought. :)

I think so, yes. In wide parts it does. I think it does more on the atmosphere than people would think of. Don't you think so?
