My favorite horror movie

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083261/mediaviewer/rm222999041/?context=default

A huge muscular baby-IQ 5' 11" emotionally-imbalanced ugly inbred living in the basement and... called "Junior" !

If tv series were allowed i would have

- nightmarish unpredictable plot-twist in the last minute of the story

- good guy bravely fighting the whole story and always losing/dying in the end

Thank you, Mario.

I won't take such specific things on the list, which seem to be in only one movie. The suggestion should describe a universally applicable element of making horror movie. But I took your suggestion and put it on the list a little modified to show you what I mean. Please look at it. I took another image, because on the other I couldn't see much as a thumbnail. I've put it at the end of the list for a visual comparence. So you helped me. Thank you. I've totally forgotten that aspect of horror effects.

tv-series: A legitimate wish, but no, sorry. Only movies. :D

I didnt check the list because I dont want to see scary images... but what scares me the most is the random bizarre staff, something that you dont even expect from a horror film... for instance in "Shining" I expected gore and violence but that guy in the bear or dog costume scared the hell out of me... something with the makeup, the expression... I tried to see the image again and when I did I was like "whoa" and I could feel the cold shiver down my spine.

Thank you for telling me. I just found that image. I didn't remember it from formerly seeing the movie, but as you say - it is so bizarre, it's subliminal frightening. A little more than just kinky. I wouldn't want to meet those two guys. There is something terribly wrong. I'll pick it up for the list.

As you said, it's so out of place, so weird, its not right at all... as a child I had a phobia of clowns or masks, something in the sight too unsettling for my sensitive eyes... like that ad campaign for vaccination when I was a child... it's on Youtube, the title is "Pub Vaccin 1987" (the poster's name is Walid)... I couldn't watch it again, just looking at the thumbnail gives me the creeps. If you want to challenge your fear, go ahead but you're going to hate me for that, this clip is scarier than any other horror films I ever saw.

By the way, since I dont want to see that bear-guy again, maybe you can switch it with the "dog man" from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1978)... same kind of surreal nightmare fuel lol.

>"dog man" from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1978).

me too, the dog with the bum's face scared me more than the whole film. I'm sure it gave me nightmares that night😨

There's something of a 'genius' in that moment, for many reasons:

- narratively, it provokes the shocked reaction that will betray the two protagonists

- it's the outcome of these brief expositional moments with the bum and his dog, not many, but just enough to remember that bearded guitar-playing guy and his animal

- it comes out of nowhere, we're plunged into that nightmarishly quiet atmosphere with everybody acting like robots and then the banjo music starts, cutting through the ambiance with something upbeat that rises our curiosity

- the face, it's not just creepy, it's puzzling, we have forgotten about the bum and the dog and since it takes a little time to figure what the hell is it, unconsciously, our eyes zero in that face and print it in our memory and what a horrible image: the bland expression, the colors, the unnatural thing about it and the cherry on the cake when the tongue comes out.

Yay! Thank you. I've put the bum on the list. That's pretty weired.
