Live Poll: R.I.P. Charles Grodin

Intro:

The IMDb Poll Board users are sad to hear that Charles Grodin passed away on May 18, 2021. He was born on April 21, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA and raised in a Jewish orthodox home. Grodin was of Russian and Polish ancestry. After attending the University of Miami, he opted for acting. He was married twice, our thoughts go to his bereaved wife and his two grown-up kids.

Grodin was a deadpan comedian with a deep smooth voice and a lovely kind of humor. His characters often were friends, family fathers, or unsure guys. He played both, lead as well as supporting characters, but he always was a benefit for movie he played in. So we present some of his best performances.

Which is your favorite Charles Grodin character?

Changed the subject from his movies to his performances, so please select images for suggestions.

I'm getting a 4040 error when looking at the list. I imagine The Duke from Midnight Run is on there in which case it would get my vote.

I've set in a public state about an hour ago. It might have overlapped.

Please try again.

Thank you for pointing that out. I renewed the link to the list, sat it to private and back to public, then logged out. With being logged out, I can reach my list.

I'm not sure about what you meant by "planned" marriage, he was already married with Lila when he met Kelly.

You're right. Sorry, I wrote that before on my incomplete memory. It must have been 25 years ago when I saw this movie. I guess I got to see it again. Thank you, ElMo. I just corrected it and deleted the word "planned". On the other roles I'm more sure about.

I didn't know he had died. How sad. He was a good actor and very funny. He was from my hometown, too. This poll is nicely done, Breu.

FYC:

Tony Abbott in 'Heaven Can Wait'

Ira in 'Seems Like Old Times'

Murray Blum in 'Dave'

May I suggest just a few small edits to the intro? The intro is very good, btw. : )

@rubyfruit76

Thank you for correcting, Ruby. I know, I'm getting better in the English language and learn much about again and again, but I'm still not very fluent in it. I always stumble over missing words. If I couldn't use the internet, I would completely screw it some times. ;) I corrected the intro and I will put your suggestions on the list. Sorry about the writing, the thing with Jewish orthodox home is written in his presentation on IMDb, so orientated myself on this. Thank you for correcting me, because I would have learned that wrong.

I'm sad about Grodin's death because I saw him in my early life on screen and he always was somehow sympathetic to me. So I tried to give him the best obituary I can do. Like the poll about Sean Connery's passing, which still makes me sad when I think of.

I must admit, that I haven't seen 'Heaven Can Wait' and 'Seems like Old Times'. Can you please tell me a little about them. So I can get more precise in the options description. I've seen 'Dave', but I guess it's about more than 20 years ago that I saw it. I remember it slightly. Since I saw it, I must have seen more than 2.500 movies.

I'll let the options like they are, except when there come in additional suggestions.
