Not necessarily my favorite, but when someone talks of homosexuality, I will always think of Birdman. I saw this film in 2016 on recommendation from my grandmother. Judge me (or my parents), but I had never seen a same-sex kiss onscreen before the one featuring Naomi Watts and Andrea Riseborough. Anyway, lesbianism probably isn't a major theme in Birdman, but it was the first time I was exposed frontally to homosexuality (not only in films, but in life in general). At the time, I practically turned off the film.

I had a similar experience when I watched Moonlight and Midnight Cowboy, both with my grandmother. Sometimes I think that my parents relegated the responsibility of doing this teaching to her because they were a bit uncomfortable themselves with the subject. With my parents, at that age, I mainly watched less serious films such as Superman (1978), Batman (1989) and Indiana Jones (1981).

@keyword_expert, Thanks, the help with keyword and key phrases was helpful in establishing a pool of movies to work with as potential LBGTIA+ movies. I was able to cull from that pool movies that the keyword was more in passing, rather than being about a major plot theme or central character. In some movies, it also is purposely ambigious, unclear or conjecture whether a scene is LBGTIA+ related or not.  Regardless, I was able to end up with an answer pool of twenty-five strong answer candidates, as well as, a secondary pool of about a dozen others that are a bit weaker (less widely seen, more minor character, more minor plot point, etc.).

You put "LBGT..." in the title. The usual order is "LGBT..."

Oscars (2024) LGBTQIA+ Oscar B.P. Nominees

I think American Fiction, Maestro, Anatomy of a Fall, and Poor Things could concievably qualify with a minor or major LGBTQIA+ character and a LGBTQIA+ plot point woven into the story. But, I think there are going to be future movies where it is more central to the storyline. I think the bar going forward can be set be set higher for this poll. The best examples from this year's class did not garner a B.P. nomination among their other Oscar nominations.
