The music of Conquest of Paradise is the most significant to me.
Last June, I went to a concert offered by my school's symphony orchestra. Anyone who knows me knows that I did not go for music. I know nothing about music. I went there because I had a crush on a girl. I feared it would be my last occasion to talk to her. I already knew her though, I mean we had been on the same Genies en herbes team for 5 years. But, I'm a really really shy person, over those 5 years I barely talked to her. Frankly, at mid-point into the concert, I did not know a single piece of music, and I hate making hollow commentaries such as "you were really good tonight" without having examples to back my claims. By a miracle, one of the last pieces of music was Vangelis' Conquest of Paradise, even though I could not hear her playing very well (because the louder instruments were hiding the sound of her clarinet), I used this music (and Vangelis' recent death) as a way to initiate a conversation with her after the concert. I talked about how moving it was to hear this particular music just after Vangelis' death, it is not any Vangelis music, it is a music called Conquest of Paradise. Truly a fitting requiem. The most impressive, as I learned from her, is that orchestra began practicing this Conquest of Paradise before Vangelis' passing.
This whole thing seems to come straight from a romantic comedy but be reassured, the ending is not so romantic. I still hang out with this girl once a month or so. Since this music gave me the inspiration to talk to her, she did not completely vanish from my life. Yet, I never dated her, she is not my best friend either. Now, she only seems to have understood that I don't totally dislike her. Prior, to our conversation, she would intentionally avoid me. Now, she does not.

Hot take: I hate the main theme from Chariots of Fire. Maybe irrationally so.

Went with Blade Runner.
