Very good poll that will probably be popular, too. I think the intro could be made to be more clear, though, just by moving one clause and replacing a few words. If you'd like to revise it a bit, here's a suggestion:

Alongside Ben-Hur (1959) and Titanic (1997), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) is the most Academy Award acclaimed movie in history with 11 wins. The other two movies had a few more nominations, though, whereas  LOTR ROTK won all 11 categories for which it was nominated making it the largest Academy Award sweep. Which of the categories it won do you think was most deserving?

I don't really know. After looking at the other nominees, perhaps Mystic River should have won Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. And that year, Master and Commander was a deserving film in many technical categories.

For me, The Return of the King deserved:

1) Best Visual Effects

2) Best Music, Original Song (For the song "Into the West")

3) Best Music, Original Score

4) Best Makeup

5) Best Costume Design

6) Best Art Direction-Set Decoration

7) Best Film Editing
