I haven't seen the new #1, but it is a film that deeply interests me. I'm glad there are more female directors in this top. I'm a big fan of Varda's.
I'm surprised and pleased to see modern films included among the canonical pieces of cinema.
I'm disappointed by the omission of Lawrence of Arabia from the critic's list and of Touch of Evil from both lists. I don't take it personally though, everyone has praised these films for 60 years, the exclusion doesn't tarnish their legendary reputation.
I disagree with the inclusion of Get Out. I expected Do the Right Thing to make the list, but now it is simply to highly placed.
I will pay more interest to Claire Denis, Wong Kar-Wai, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, and Abbas Kiarostami films.
It looks like some classics of cinema had a hard time. Antonioni, Bresson, Bergman, Fellini, and Tarkovski are less popular in this top.
I'm surprised by the omission of There Will be Blood and The Tree of Life.
I'm surprised by the amount of popularity Battleship Potemkin has lost.
But all in all, I like this top. There is nothing outrageous, but there is a certain dose of ambition.

My favorite film of the Top 20 is 2001: A Space Odyssey. But, I have decided that I will vote for The Searchers.
