Of these, I'd say either 'Witness' or 'Dead Poets Society.' I still haven't seen The Truman Show. So many movies, so little time, lol.

Witness or The Truman Show are the only movies directed by him I did watch, but they both deserve the Oscar

I don't think he should have won any of these categories, as there was a  better, more deserving nominee in every category. I think the Dead Poet Society was his most competitive race and his strongest nomination though. FYC, You can't really ask if should have won without knowing who and which movies he was competing against.

I think you should split the #5. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World Best Director & Best Picture nominations into two options, the slot gets the votes, not the title, so you can use the same movie twice.

5. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Best Director nomination

6. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Best Picture nomination

Thanks! I have separated the last option to two separate ones. Changed to question to ask for best chance of winning.

@Brijesh I think that is better and a passage phrasing, I still think the question still needs to factor the competition in a given year to be answered. I think what you are really asking is which is his strongest nominee, so maybe asking the question in a vague more comparable across years way.

Which of Peter Weir's Oscar nominations do you think is his strongest nominee or the most Oscar-worthy?

@Brijesh I really wanted to vote for the Truman show, but there is no way I was going to pick it over Saving Private Ryan. Plus, every director nominee seems deserving that year.
