Thanks Pibby!

I have added Hypnotic. Strays is releasing on the internet, not getting a wide theatrical release.

IMDb was not showing it in their database. I have added it. Thanks!

Evil Dead Rise may also belong in the poll, at least more so than The Evil of Dracula.

Evil Dead Rise is currently ranked 24 in the Most Popular Movies.

DC, I don't see any technical errors with your question and I am all for being clear and specific. But, I would change your question nonetheless, dropping the Northern Hemisphere reference, since 90% of the world's population lives in the northern half and the other southern 10% are used to realizing worldwide spring references are not written for them.

Also, I would add the phrase "upcoming or just out film", since this poll will go live during Spring 2023 and poll takers will likely be taking it sometime over the next three months, so I would not write it for today, but to be read anytime in the next three months. Lastly, it is a matter of personal preference, but if it were my poll and the scope is anticipated releases, I would order the poll answer options by USA release dates (default dates on IMDb). Fyc, title and question: Most Anticipated Spring 2023 Film

Existing Question

Which film are you most looking forward to seeing during the Spring (in the Northern Hemisphere) of 2023 (March 21, 2023 to June 21, 2023)? * Theatrical wide release in USA.

vs.

Proposed Question

Which upcoming or just out theatrical movie that debuts with a March 21, 2023 to June 21, 2023 USA release during spring 2023 are you most looking forward to seeing?

Hi Benu,

Most of these are not getting a wide release in USA.

Example:

'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny' releasing on June 30.

The problem with the search is that it may include online releases, limited releases and festival screenings of movies that may have later wider releases, and movies that aren't being released in the US — and that it doesn't include movies that have already been released at a festival or in another country and is now being widely released in the US.

There is probably no reason to link the search in the poll when the list is not really based on the search.

@Dibyayan_Chakravorty The list is not meant as suggestions, only as a tool to see if something is worth looking into further. It is intended as a "safety net" for you to review and see if there are any glaring omissions and I am not saying every title has the the right date or the date you are using. Plus, streaming movies, documentaries, TV movies, direct-to-video releases all are films too and can be highly anticipated. I would argue Adam Sandler, Jennifer Anniston and Netflix fans are excited to see the next Murder Mystery installment. But, if you are limiting the poll scope to theatrical releases only, you should say that in the title and question and not as a side note.

@Peter_pbn @urbanemovies

Hello Guys!

I have done some major changes in my poll.

1. Sorted the options according to release date.

2. Updated the description. Removed IMDb search link.

3. Used both IMDb movie release schedule and Box Office Mojo movie calendar to identify the titles which are actually getting wide theatrical release in USA.

----------------------------------

Benu,

Sorry, I can't remove the Hemisphere part from the poll. This is not the first time I used that word.

@Dibyayan_Chakravorty

Unfortunately Box Office Mojo doesn't seem to be very reliable. Listing The Little Mermaid as a limited release seems ridiculous.

The Numbers looks to me like a good release schedule.

My suggestion Hypnotic is definitely a wide release. "Now it will be released via Ketchup on more than 2,000 screens" (Deadline)

I don't see why you are handcuffing yourself by stating you are using a wide vs. limited release status in the scope. You can not state it, and use it as a guideline, and make exceptions when they make sense.

I think you may be missing out on some notable movies. If there are lines for people waiting to purchase tickets going down the block, movies can go from a limited release to a wide release in the blink of an eye. Remember, that 'The Blair Witch Project', a 1999 micro-budget film that went on to gross $250M and spawned an entire media franchise was only supposedly to be a small limited release too.

I would list Air (2023) and The Boogeyman (2023), both over Spinning Gold (2023) and your next weakest option (The Blackening ???), which got slammed by the critics. I think both movies will eventually go wide, as both have had tremendous responses from test audiences. Plus, 'Air' had a $7 million ad during the Super Bowl this year. While, Boogeyman had a similar ad during the NFL NFC championship two weeks prior. I don't think Amazon or Disney spends that type of money for a movie that is only going to hit a limited number of theaters.

FYI, a couple of the actors in 'Air' have done some films that went on to be big hits, so that may contribute to the "anticipation" factor for this film.

'The Boogeyman' has been added at #30. Used IMDb popularity meter to replace a title.

I already have my IMAX ticket for Suzume (2022). So, guess which is my answer.

DC, I am not sure anything can be done. But, 'Air' (2023) opened as a wide release in 3,507 North American movie theaters and already is ranked #20 for the year after a four day $20M gross. It will likely be in ranked #14 for 2023 by the end of next weekend. It likely would have been higher, if not for the huge drop-off in business due to Easter Sunday.
