LIVE POLL: IMDb Poll Board Top 5 Worst Films of the 2000s

Well, the 2000s were over awhile back and so were their movies. There have been many great ones we've had the pleasure of seeing - and far too many stinky ones!

The IMDb Poll Board members have chosen their top 5 worst movies from the decade that was the 2000's (2000 to 2009). You know, the ones that they think no human being should be ever subjected to again. Which picks do you agree with most?

Please tell me the five feature-length movies from the 2000s (2000 to 2009) that made you cringe!

There may be more stinkers ahead! Let's dive into a dirty spiral of negative nostalgia.

Also, I saw Date Movie last week. it was dreadful.

If you don't mind, You can add it in the third spot of my list and remove The Matrix Reloaded to have a more varied list.

@UncleX2_RaviNathan If Primer (2004) fits your definition of mess, I really wonder what other movies do, as I'd probably love to see them for sheer educational value.

Please, keep in mind several aspects about that film. Firstly, it's a feature directorial debut. Movies of that type rarely (if ever) turn up without severe flaws even on moderate and big budget. Secondly, Shane Carruth did great as a director, considering that budget is $7,000 and he's also portraying one of the main characters (one of the things as an independent filmmaker I can attest is very hard to do). I'm pretty sure you haven't seen much movies made in that same category of budget because there are fewer watchable to begin with so it might be that you just don't have much to compare with.

That said, I'm not a 'fanboy' of this movie. It's far from being my favorite directorial debut or movie of the 2000's, it lacks certain kind of ingenuity and improvisation value that makes similar movies more watachable, it's somewhat dry (if not dull, even) and at times feels more like an equation than art. That said, I have no doubt that Carruth is passionate, evolving and what he lacks in certain visual flair and entertainment value (in a debut) he surely compensates in uniqueness, meaning that movie has suprising ideas and scenes and coming from me that's a high praise, as I can't help but notice same exact tired ideas over and over in movies. Movies of similar approach only became popular in the next decade and are usually at least moderate budget to convey the ideas, so it is ahead of its time.

Then there is also "give the viewer the best possible experience" which is an irrelevant and misguided point when it comes to independent films and self-financed passion projects. People mostly do that as a form of self-expression and as such they're not guaranteed to give you entertainment. You have all the rights in the world to not like the movie, but criticizing it for not compromising its substance to please the audience is mentality that kills art and produces mere content

@mariojacobs The plot of Primer is relatively simple when compared to other movies of that subtype. I firmly believe that lack of comprehension has nothing to do with the quality of the movie when it comes to genres such as 'hard sci-fi' (which is somewhat of an elitist term nowadays). It was marketed as a complicated film, it never shied away from being relatively unusual so it was your choice whether to try and decipher or just pass. Might seem elitist, but I'm not here to criticize your opinion (which i respect, because you've seen the movie, that's already a lot), just to provide my counter-opinion in order for discussion to not have a singular disapproving tone. I'm worried that stumbling upon this some people from the target audience will be discouraged to see it and as an independent filmmaker and film fan I'm all too familiar with that situation, especially when it comes to lists akin to "5/10 worst".

Also... As someone who started to watch "Batman" (1966-1968) in entirety not so long ago and struggling to go far I really fail to see why modern audiences (and by modern I mean like, starting with Generation X) consider it a classic unironically and without any question. Credit where credit is due: it's relatively true to the source material even when compared to some modern examples of comic book adaptations; acting is stellar, to a point. But the tone is not just all over the place, it's uneven to a point of mess: literally jarring to see them kill a character in one scene and then proceeding with slapstick in another. This occurs multiple times in the first season and people rarely (if ever) adress that.

I am actually agreeing with people that judged against other adaptations this Batman is the most unstable and uneven version that creates a lot of cognitive dissonance. And if you're a fan of "it's a comic book series, don't be serious about it" argument, than please restrain from it because I am very much not a fan of it. And it's not just about comic book adaptations, it's about the whole approach of treating the entire audience regardless of age as mere demographic with key word mentality, which at times this series does, quickly dating itself.

P.S. My sense of humor is practically non-existent, I know. It's a positive trait in my case, because it prevents me from loosing empathy and becoming cynical. Conventional humor is oftentimes just a mindless form of agression, as destructive as any agression is, and also self-destructive.

@nikolay_yeriomin you are right, it was precipitated of me to write something down and an unfair judgment. The fact is, I was tired and I was watching the movie falling asleep, I will watch it again more focused.

@RaviNathan Not every sci-fi concept remade with a bigger budget works better. In best cases it works differently, and still the case of La jetée (1962) and Twelve Monkeys (1995) is in favor of the original movie and it's the only one from the top of my head that at least stands a chance.

@RaviNathan La jetée (1962) is a must see for many categories of film fans, but it might be especially of interest to you if you've seen and liked both versions of Twelve Monkeys

It's amazing how much it achieves with very little (whole movie mostly consists of static photographs with only one shot actually containing movement). Easily one of the best and most influential short films ever (just said only moving shot I've seen replicated at least three times in high-profile movies).

Tsar, you haven't added tasmalina's and mariojacobs' lists, and I think Pencho wanted to change a movie in his list (on Page 2).
