I think of the word "redemptive" or "redemption" when I think of uplifting movies.  For me, there is no movie more redemptive than the tale of Ebeneezer Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol."  My favorite version of that story is the 1984 film starring George C. Scott.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087056/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_6_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_a%20christmas%20carol

I think that the most uplifting television series of all time may be "Touched By An Angel."  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108968/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_7_nm_1_in_0_q_Touched%20by%20an%20Angel

I love A Christmas Carol too, I've seen nearly every major adaptation, though I'm partial to the 1951 Alastair Sim version

@ethan While I truly enjoyed Alistair Sim playing Ebeneezer Scrooge, I thought that the 1984 film was overall a better movie.  I also really enjoyed Reginald Owen in the role (1938 version), but once again prefer the 1984 film.
