Ethan, Even if you exclude the two short films from the 1996 lists, The Godfather wouldn't have been in the top 10.
It is probably more interesting, and historically accurate, to reflect its early absence despite being such an aclaimed title, rather than forcing it in by ignoring the first list.

While I don't dislike it, I have always found Shawshank Redemption icredibly overrated, it wouldn't be in my Top 250, so I vote for The List of Schindler.
