Maybe Gustaf Gründgens in Faust (1960)? It's a literature Filming from Germany, which is based on Faust by Goethe. Mephistofeles was the character. One of the best and accurate filmings of Faust.

Sorry. I see now. :D I didn't have this image in mind and Tim Curry is behind tons of mask and make-up, so I didn't recognize him at first. But when I look at the mouth now - yes that's Curry. :D
