FYC,

I think the transition between the introduction (where you list all his jobs) and the asked question could be confusing to some people.

David O. Selznick (1902 – 1965) was an American film producer, screenwriter and film studio executive.

Which is your favorite David O. Selznick movie?

What makes a movie a David O. Selznick movie? Is it any movie he worked on in any capacity or is it just limited to those he produced? Even then are we limiting it to movies with just producer credits or both producer and executive producer roles. He has the eighty-seven combined producing credits, so I think you can limit to just producer role movies, IMHO.

Maybe, you could be more specific in the question:
Which movie produced by David O. Selznick is your favorite?

Also,  your "Earned him an Academy Award for Best Picture" statement should be reworded for Gone with the Wind (1939) and Rebecca (1940). The Best Picture Oscars were awarded to the studio and not the producer through 1949.

Therefore, it is technically false and inaccurate. Although one could say it is not misleading, because even today the films win the Best Picture award with the named or nominated producers getting an Oscar to take home. All other Oscars are given in the name of individual, except the Best Picture.

You might just want to adjust your note to something else.

Gone with the Wind (1939) won the Oscar for Best Picture with David O. Selznick producing

or Rebecca (1940) Won the Oscar for Best Picture with David O. Selznick producing

@urbanemovies thank you for your suggestions, I made the changes in the text. Besides, I included the 2 new Cross Creek Pictures movies in the other thread. By the way, what is the difference between producer and executive producer???

@mariojacobs The producer is more of the day-to-day line guy who does all the heavy lifting, as far as, getting the movie made from a logistics stand point. The executive producer(s) is generally a studio or production company senior executive, or the person who hold the creative rights to the project or the project's star or another stakeholder in the project. They are more big idea people or senior advisors and will step in when the producer needs help like getting more money. Sometimes, the star of the project or another stakeholder will get one or other type of credit, depending on how much work they put in, their actual role and their deal. Sometimes, the same individial holds both jobs. So, the fact that producers get named along with a film in the Oscar nomination and executive producers do not, says alot.

If you see or saw the Paramount mini-series, The Offer it is a great scripted show about the unbelievable story behind the making of The Godfather (1972). It effectively communicates the differences almost completely in a very entertaining way. Even though he was the Paramount CEO, Bob Evans wasn't credited as an executive producer (he filled that role, though, plus I don't think they used the title as often years ago). Miles Teller plays Godfather producer Albert S. Ruddy in the series and tells the story from his point of view.
