LIVE POLL: "World of Westeros" Franchise — Best Scrapped Universe Pitch

(Note: A shortened, less detailed introduction appears in the actual poll suggestion list. This poll suggestion was previously suggested on Nov 7, 2018 as Face-Off: "Game of Thrones" Rumored Prequels.)

HBO thinks it has a winning hand with George R.R. Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' novels and related works. It believes it can mine the source material for a dozen or more TV series to air on its family of networks. Disney's success with the Marvel and Star Wars franchises has proven this formula can work. HBO is betting the bank that it can turn the multi-billion dollar success of the first "Game of Thrones" series into a franchise universe that will bear fruit for decades. It is treading carefully and trying to avoid any missteps, like those Game of Thrones (2011) encountered, when it outran its published source material.

As of 20 April 2022, the thirteen-known in development World of Westeros universe projects have yielded one series ordered, one series cancelled with only an unaired pilot, five series ideas that were scrapped and another six that are currently being vetted and are "officially" undetermined. As the saying goes: "You've got to crack a few eggs to make an omelet." In seeking to expand the franchise, HBO has certainly been willing to abandon good ideas that didn't meet the high bar set by the original series. Source: Game of Thrones Fandom

Based on each writer's reputation and the scant details available, which of these scrapped World of Westeros universe pitches would you most like to see revived and become a WoW prequel TV series or maybe even a WoW feature film?

Game of Thrones Successor TV Series Timeline

In 2017, HBO ordered an initial wave of five pilot scripts for separate prequel series to succeed "Games of Thrones" (2011). One of these pilot scripts was developed by Jane Goldman into an Unaired Game of Thrones Prequel Pilot (2019), tentatively titled "Blood Moon" starring Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse. It was officially cancelled by HBO in 2019.

In 2019, HBO announced a straight to series 10-episode order for House of the Dragon (2022). The Ryan J. Condal and George R.R. Martin co-created prequel series is the story of House Targaryen set two centuries before the events of "Games of Thrones".

In 2021, another wave of pitches was rumored for four live-action series and three animated series. One of these projects, a Flea Bottom centered series has since been scrapped and never made it past the early stages of development.

@urbanemovies ,

Sadly, two of your options no longer appear valid or need to be adjusted to delete the removed title. I suspect, IMDb may do the same for the remaining four choices in your poll.

1. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls538775501/mediaviewer/rm458430976/

I opt for the Untitled Brian Helgeland/Game of Thrones Successor Series, aka tt7520426.

6. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls538775501/mediaviewer/rm4218125824/

I opt for the Untitled Bryan Cogman/Game of Thrones Successor Series, aka tt7520430.

@Jessica

I am unclear about the spelling correction, but the list being publicly viewable appears to have been resolved.

Nevermind, I found the "Successor" error you were referring to.
