Actually two are: “Father Goose” and “Operation Petticoat”. Just because they are comedies doesn’t mean that they can be set in WW2.

Those first three make this a tough choice but I'll probably go with 'Schindler's.' As you may remember, ElMo, I think Spielberg often fails to fulfill his formidable talent but I think that this is a great film; he still falls into easy sentimentality sometimes but it nonetheless is a very powerful film. It will probably get a whole lot of votes, though, so I might actually choose the vote-underdog of those first three.

I don't know if you saw my note on the thread for your poll of films with two-letter titles but, if not, I had, right around the same time, started a poll of films with three-letter titles, an idea that came to me after seeing the poll suggestion of Spanish language films that included 'XXY,' a film which I liked a lot. I finished the list but before I post anything, I wanted to check with you: since you posted your two-letter titles poll first, if you want to make a poll of three-letter titles, I will happily delete mine and give you any movie titles that I have. Just let me know; I'll check back here occasionally. (If you don't want to make that one, I'll certainly provide a link to your poll on mine.)

Oh, I love the title of this poll, btw. : )

Torpedo Run (1958)
Battleground (1949) Technically, that is a one word title that used a compound word as it’s title. But since you had listed another one word title using a compound word, “Downfall”, I guess “Battleground” counts too.

I just can’t seam to let this subject go. You had missed a lot of them.
When I said “Operation Petticoat”, I had meant the Blake’s Edwards classic 1959 war comedy staring Cary Grant and Tony Curtis about a barely operating submarine full of men out on a patrol that is forced to pick up a “platoon””(? I hope I got the right size military unit on this one) of nurses and must accommodate them and still pro-fill the mission.
“Mister Roberts” a comedy about the not so frequently talked about side of war... the supply ships.
“Up Periscope” serious war drama.
“Down Periscope” comedy
“South Pacific” a musical comedy that does get serious and touch’s on the topic of racism and is based on James Michener’s collection of interconnected WW2 stories, “Tales Of The South Pacific”. Even though his name is not in the film’s credits, I got the book, and yes, almost every story in it is without question in “South Pacific”
“Buck Privates” comedy
“Stalag 17” serious and comedic
“Up Front”(1951) comedy
Oh “Father Goose”, (1964), one of Gary Grant’s war movies, deals with a not so talked about subject of WW2 that was indeed mentioned in “In Harm’s Way” and “South Pacific”. The spotters that the navy had placed on several islands in the Pacific to report on any enemy plane, ship or troop movements they could spot. It was just in Grant’s movie, he must also deal with and protect a bunch of children and their headmistress of the school the Japanese had destroyed.
Maybe “Top Gun”
Hell, I have enough here for another list. Especially comedies if I throw in “No Time for Sargents”, “At War with the Army” (1950), “The Americanization of Emily’ (1964), and “M.A.S.H.”. ( James Gardner did a few war films too other than just being Bret Maverick and Jim Rockford all the time.). Of course with your permission of course. This did start with you.

Oh, also throw in two more Carlton Heston movies
“The Buccaneer” (The war of 1812)
“El CID” a biopic and war movie https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054847/...
