    I was going to suggest Richard Donner, who directed the last good Superman films (Superman and Superman II/The Donner Cut) in 1978 and 1980.   He died last summer, unfortunately.

    By the way, with the exception of The Incredibles, I consider those two to be the last great superhero movies.  It is one of my least favorite genres.  Man of Steel was so bad that there shouldn't even be a sequel.

    Seriously, I don't want a sequel. It was a bad film. And, I don't know half the "yes-men" you listed.

    I want a non-superhero comic book adapted film directed by a real director. I want a Shin'ya Tsukamoto film in which Clark Kent is really made of steel. He is indestructible, but also unable to move without micmicking the form of a metal object he has touched (e.g. a car). It would be a mix between Tetsuo the Ironman, Titane, and Kustom Kar Kommandos. 

    He and Lois Lane would still be in love (because you need some action). The film would reenact the Superman (1978) ending, except Clark Kent would be the car itself.  Stuck in the landslide, he wouldn't be unable to stop the missiles nor save Lois Lane from suffocating. His impossible love for Lois Lane would have caused both the destruction Hackensack and the death of his soul-mate. Now, he is condemned forever to stay stuck in the crevace with the dead Lois Lane inside him.
