When you said "American Film Institute's Top 5", don't you mean Top 50?

'Great poll, ElMo. I'd vote for Norman but I was thinking about what's really interesting about Thornwald: He doesn't even really have a speaking part in the film (with almost none of his speech being audible) and yet the role and dynamic is so effective. He seems so menacing and creepy and is a full-fledged villain. 'Just one of so many examples of Hitchcock's genius. 'Credit to Burr, too, of course, as well as Stewart, Kelly, and Thelma Ritter, whose projections work so well to vilify Thornwald. 

May I suggest two small edits? (changed one comma to a semi-colon and another to a colon)

These are the ten villains from Hitchcock movies nominated for the American Film Institute's Top 50; only two made it (the first of the list) but that's not diminishing the others' value: one of them might even be your favorite villain.
