Conclusion: In a good heist movie, the plan is sick but not overexplained, the mastermind is relatively charismatic, and the secondary characters are well developed.

Also thank you for the interest. I read the synopsis of all movies I didn't know to somehow check, if they fit the criteria. So your list is real nice. There is just one movie that doesn't fit so really. A heist - as I would understand it in general public - is a movie with several people who work together to work out a plan to steal something really awesome worthy. Just the movie 'Hell or High Water' seems to be a little poor facing the other candidates. I just read the German text again.

They rob a bank, but it isn't enough so they rob another bank. Seems to be more like a bunch of losers, which can't really plan things accurate. I won't put it off the list, if you got no better candidate.

I just have one thing, I even mentioned in the intro: Inception is more like a economy thriller than a heist movie. It's not the typical subject of stealing something worthy, it's about planting a thought into a bereaved man's head to prevent his company from exploiting the people in the area his father aimed for. Saito wanted to take it in his hands. So I reject Inception, I hae to admit that it even was wrong in my first poll about the heist subject. Please give me another one, would you? :D Editing the order is no problem. ;)

Inception is a heist movie.

• You are looking at it from one perspective only as a job given by Saito. But, what is on stake here, by using Inception, he will get a lot of money and power.
• There is a safe which they need to open to do something that will help in accomplishing the heist. 
• Initially they try to extract information which could be worth a lot.
• Inception is like a cover of the actual heist. Like, in Now You See Me, they perform for audiences as a cover up.

If you are adamant on its exclusion. It would be this (with tongue in a cheek):

I still don't think so. Saito does it for granting that the people in the area won't get exploited. That makes it political. But maybe other users see it the same way.

You know what? I considered it and there is one thing that angered me in the last poll. The heist movie, which had the least character like a classical heist movie had one long bar and the other movies stood miles away after. But my top 10 polls usually have three issues:

1. The users may choose widely what they want in rough rules and the

2. ...conclusion is something very personal picky, which should be stated free to back the list.

3. I'm a little more open minded for user's interpretation.

I see that there might be more users who want to take Inception, so it won't be only one big bar and a few little others. But what I stated about 'The Dark Knight' stays. The heist there really is just a little one. The rest of the movie has nothing to do with it.

About the lists and conclusions: I always pick those, which I feel matches the subject and my interpretation of it only affect the order in the list. The conclusion always back up my list, as I pointed out

Why 3 picks? I think that number is unusual and it could be that too many users pick exact the same three.

Don't underestimate the "Conclusion:"-line. That little issue brings the idea more personal to the people. It's not just a steril list, but someone thought about this list. The conclusion can be decisive for people.

As a voter I don't take time to study all the lists. In my opinion most people want to make a quick vote. Comparing the lists is easier with only 3 picks. But it's your decission of course...

Can you imagine a heist movie with two people? How boring would that be? It becomes more depth and complexity with more and especially different characters. I don't remember one heist movie with only two gangsters. The best heist movies have 5, 8, 10 and more gang members. Why do I always have to backup all I mention here with sources? Do you have sources for all you tell, or do you also believe in a certain common assumption?

And heists are also conspiratorial.

Hi Breu, according to the Oxford Dictionary, which is the gold standard, a heist is, verbatim, "a robbery." There's nothing more to the definition than that.

Also, I think by saying that a heist with only two people would be boring is substituting your judgement for the person who is providing the list and the voter's. 'A Dog Day Afternoon,' for example, only has two people involved in the heist and that film is a classic that has stood the test of time. I'm sure there's someone out there who may think it's boring, and perhaps they even think it's boring because there are only two people, but that person wouldn't have to nominate it or vote for it. Off the top of my head, 'Hell or High Water' also only has two people involved in the robbery.

Of course, it's your poll so, if you want to, you can make it a requirement that movies have more than two people involved in the  heist(s) but just make sure that you keep that separate from the definition. (Also, keep in mind, that several people would have to change their lists and it reduces the number of available films.)
