Uh, how about my comment about Fences? Unless you meant Oscar-bait, I didn't get the meaning of "Oscars"

Sorry ElM, I was gonna respond to them shortly. Yeah I meant like Oscar-bait esque but I think I'll use one of yours instead, my favorite is "The Play on Screen" as it almost mirrors the word 'screenplay', not sure if that was intentional on your part or not but very clever nonetheless.

That's what I wrote about the film, it was well-acted but over-written and under-directed, too many monologues and rants without even trying to transcend the format of the play and immerse us into the world of the other characters, we never see the kid playing football, the other son playing jazz, how about having one scene where Troy visits the club where his son is playing and have a sort of musical interlude, how about showing him showing another facet of his personality with his mistress, being funny and easy going for once... it's like the film was a clothesline on which to hang Washington's angry rants, your admiration toward his acting is almost at the expense of your enjoyment of the story. A little less could have been a lot more.
