If you add the new winner, it could be a good time to run this.

You didn't make a new image list for Best Actress, did you?

These three related poll suggestions have been updated to the 2019 Oscar ceremony:

PS: Best Leading Actor Oscar Performances (1990-Now)
PS: Best Supporting Actor Oscar Performances (1990-Now)
PS: Best Supporting Actress Oscar Performances (1990-Now)

The other related poll for Best Leading Actress Oscar Performances is not one of my polls. It is a formerly live poll created by Silitonga titled, Most Memorable Character to win Oscar Best Actress in past 26 Years. It covers the Oscar ceremonies from 1991 to 2016 as a character poll, but has been de-activated.

I think that it is quite a complex question because we need to consider the difficulty of the work done by the actor and their ability to pull that off.

I would argue that may of the winners have a hook for the actor to hang their role upon, and give them something distinct to work with i.e a disability, accurately portraying a real person, someone with very obvious character traits.

I believe that the difficulty and accomplishment is for the actors that are not given those benefits mentioned above, or have to play a character where the nuances are not so distinct.  For me this was Denzel Washington in Training Day.  He impressed fully without any of the character benefits mentioned above and succeeded in causing us all to vacillate between supporting his character, to hating him, to supporting him, to giving him the benefit of the doubt.  It all came from pure skill rather than using a hook.
