LIVE POLL: Greatest Hitchcock-Directed Movie Ever Made (Hitchcock 125th)

In celebration of the 125th anniversary of his birth, during 2024, a lifetime retrospective of Alfred Hitchcock's greatest movIes. Hitchcock's body of work is impressive in both the quality and quantity of movies, placing him atop just about every industry-generated all-time top director list.

According to Wikipedia, "Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock KBE (13 August 1899 – 29 April 1980) was an English film director. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of cinema. In a career spanning six decades, he directed over 50 feature films, many of which are still widely watched and studied today. Known as the "Master of Suspense", Hitchcock became as well known as any of his actors thanks to his many interviews, his cameo appearances in most of his films, and his hosting and producing of the television anthology, Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955–65). His films garnered 46 Academy Award nominations, including six wins, although he never won the award for Best Director, despite five nominations."

Which of these selected Alfred Hitchcock movies do you think is his greatest directorial achievement?  *minimum 6.5+ IMDb-rated

Four 10/10 films!!!. You are an Hitchcock fan.

I have seen 22 Hitchcock films.

My favorites are Psycho, Vertigo and Rebecca (each 9/10).

My least favorites are The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), Number Seventeen, The Ring, The Manxman and The Farmer's Wife. I rated the Manxman and The Farmer's wife a 5/10, the others were 6/10.

The most famous Hitchcock film that I have not see is Notorious.

@Maxence_G,

I wouldn't self-describe as that, but I do appreciate great work when I see it. I do wonder how much of the credit for his success should go to his wife, Alma.

I didn't even notice that he had that many, but the high scores are a big deal considering how stingy I am with 9 & 10 ratings. I have only given out 69 10's in total for the 12,669 films I have seen or about one for every 184 films (00.544636514326%). I have given him a couple 6 ratings and I expect most of the ones I haven't seen to get a similar score. I can't imagine him having a 5, but I haven't seen those two movies yet either (or much of his work prior to 1930). I can imagine that since both are early films and he was still learn his craft, plus they are both silent, that I might score them the same.
